Amblyomma nodosum ticks were collected from one collared anteater ( Tamandua tetradactyla) in the Caatinga biome, Brazil. From one sample, we isolated a Rickettsia sp. that was phylogenetically close to Rickettsia sp. strain NOD, with 99.9, 100.0, and 99.8% identity for gltA, htrA, and ompA genes, respectively.

Introduction: Ticks and their associated spotted fever group (SFGR) represent an emerging zoonotic risk in Tunisia, where data on tick species distribution and pathogen prevalence remain limited. This study specifically aimed to investigate the diversity and phylogeny of and tick species and to identify and genetically characterize their associated SFGR species in northwestern Tunisia.
Methods: Tick sampling was conducted over a five-month period, from November 2022 to March 2023, in the Jouza district, Beja Governorate, northern Tunisia.

Small wildlife species host flea and tick species that can also infest or transmit pathogens to domestic animals and humans, including Anaplasma, Babesia, Bartonella, Borrelia, Ehrlichia, and Rickettsia species. Despite their zoonotic potential, little is known regarding the prevalence, diversity, and epidemiology of these pathogens. Therefore, we aimed to survey the ectoparasites found on Eastern Cottontail Rabbits (rabbits), Eastern Grey Squirrels (squirrels), and Virginia Opossums (opossums) in south-central Wisconsin, and describe the prevalence of select pathogens.

Japanese spotted fever (JSF) is an easily neglected infectious disease, where misdiagnosis and delayed treatment significantly contribute to poor prognoses in affected patients. Our prospective observational study (2021-2023) systematically characterized 56 JSF cases in Yichang through tripartite analysis encompassing epidemiological distributions, clinical phenotyping, and phylogenetic relationship analysis of (). Our study delineated distinct clinical presentations of JSF, and identified five laboratory indexes demonstrating significant associations with disease severity.
