RNA mA methylation, as the most prevalent modification in mRNA, is a dynamic and reversible process primarily regulated by mA methyltransferases ("writers"), mA demethylases ("erasers"), and mA recognition proteins ("readers"). It has been shown that N6-methyladenosine (mA) plays a pivotal role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study we investigated the contribution of the mA eraser AlkB homolog 5 (ALKBH5) to hepatocarcinogenesis, particularly during the early stages of liver cancer development.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) refers to a group of diseases that includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema, caused by damage to the airways or other parts of the lung, which blocks airflow and eventually makes it difficult for the patient to breathe. While COPD is a terminal condition, opportunities remain to improve affected individuals' symptoms and, thereby, their quality of life. Inhaled therapies are a mainstay of pharmacological treatment for COPD, but their efficacy is limited under certain conditions and in specific populations.

Yin Yang 1 protein-activated N-acetyltransferase 10 drives cell malignant progression of osteosarcoma through ac4C acetylation of integrin β3.

August 2025

Department of Bone and Soft-Tissue Tumor, Shanxi Province Cancer Hospital/ Shanxi Hospital Affiliated to Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences/Cancer Hospital Affiliated to Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province 030013, China.

Background: N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10) acts as the "writer" of N4-acetylcytidine (ac4C) modification in tumor progression, including osteosarcoma (OS). Its molecular mechanism in OS remains not fully clear. This study endeavored to disclose the upstream and downstream mechanism of NAT10 related to Yin Yang 1 protein (YY1) and integrin β3 (ITGB3) in OS.

Mevalonate pathway promotes liver cancer by suppressing ferroptosis through CoQ10 production and selenocysteine-tRNA modification.

Department of Pathology, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong; Hong Kong, China; State Key Laboratory of Liver Research, The University of Hong Kong; Hong Kong, China; Centre for Oncology and Immunology, Hong Kong Science Park; Hong Kong, China; Department of Clinical Oncolog

Background & Aims: Ferroptosis represents a novel therapeutic approach for HCC. HCC cells rely on glutathione/GPX4 and CoQ10/FSP1 to counteract ferroptosis. The mevalonate pathway enzyme, MVD, generates metabolite IPP to mediate selenocysteine-tRNA modification and CoQ10 production.

July 2025

Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing, World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland.

The World Health Organization (WHO) released its first guideline on non-surgical management of chronic primary low back pain (LBP) in adults in 2023. The Guideline signals a timely and important global response to the current and projected burden attributable to LBP, particularly amongst populations made vulnerable, e.g.
