To evaluated the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in improving laryngeal mucosal wound scar healing in vivo and investigated its underlying mechanisms. Laryngeal mucosal wounds were induced in Sprague-Dawley rats. Two weeks post-injury, PDT was administered via intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and 635-nm red laser irradiation at varying energy doses (15, 30, and 45 J/cm²).

The goal of this study was to understand the interaction between the voice source spectral shape, formant tuning, and fundamental frequency in determining the vocal tract contribution to vocal intensity. Computational voice simulations were performed with parametric variations in both vocal fold and vocal tract configurations. The vocal tract contribution to vocal intensity was quantified as the difference in the A-weighted sound pressure level between the radiated sound pressure and the sound pressure at the glottis.

Age-related cataract (ARC) represents a major global cause of visual impairment, with ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation recognized as a primary contributor to oxidative damage in the lens. FOXO3, a key regulator of aging, apoptosis, and oxidative stress-induced cell death, was investigated for its role and regulatory mechanisms in UVB-induced oxidative stress using human lens epithelial cells (HLECs). A progressive decrease in FOXO3 protein expression was observed in the lens capsules across various stages of cataract progression, as well as in UVB-exposed animal models and UVB-treated HLECs.

Background: Trials of neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (chemoIO) have changed the standard of care for resectable nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study characterizes the outcomes of off-trial patients who received treatment with neoadjuvant chemoIO.
Methods: The authors analyzed records of patients with stage IB-III NSCLC who received neoadjuvant chemoIO with an intent to proceed to surgical resection at three US academic institutions.

A new whole-body exposure facility for a randomized, double-blind, cross-over provocation study investigating possible effects of 50 Hz magnetic field exposure on sleep and markers of Alzheimer's disease has been developed and dosimetrically analyzed. The exposure facility was custom-tailored for the sleep laboratory where the study was carried out and enables magnetic flux densities of up to 30 μT with a maximum field inhomogeneity of less than ± 20%. Exposure is applied fully software-controlled and in a blinded and randomized manner.
