The majority of current laboratory based X-ray sources are polychromatic and are not tuneable. This lack of monochromaticity limits the range of applications for these sources and in particular it reduces the elemental specificity of laboratory based X-ray imaging experiments. Here we present a solution to this problem based on the use of Ross filter pairs. Although such Ross filter arrangements have been applied in proof-of-principle spectroscopy experiments, to date there have been no reports of this approach used for full-field X-ray imaging. Here we report on the experimental demonstration of Ross filter pairs being used for quasi-monochromatic, full-field imaging. This arrangement has several important benefits for laboratory based X-ray imaging including, as we demonstrate, elemental contrast enhancement. The method is demonstrated both for two-dimensional radiography and for three-dimensional X-ray tomography.

In comparative effectiveness research (CER), ensuring internal, construct, and external validity is crucial. Internal validity determines whether observed outcomes are causally linked to an intervention; construct validity assesses whether a study measures what it intends to; and external validity relates to generalizability in routine practice. Double-blind randomized trials optimize internal validity by minimizing bias and confounding, while construct validity is strengthened through pre-specified protocols and standardized data collection.

Prior proteomic studies have focused on isolated axonemes, leaving the regulatory components located in other cellular compartments of multiciliated cells (MCCs) largely unidentified. To bridge this gap, we performed whole-cell proteomic profiling of multicilin-induced animal cap-derived mucociliary organoids, which are highly enriched in MCCs.

Purpose: AGuIX nanoparticles consisting of Gd atoms chelated to a polysiloxane matrix are under clinical evaluation as radiopharmaceuticals agents with radiation therapy (RT). A new generation, AGuIX-Bi, replaces 70% of the Gd atoms in AGuIX with Bi atoms, improving radiation dose amplification while maintaining magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast. The therapeutic efficacy of AGuIX-Bi was investigated under clinical megavoltage and MRI conditions in 2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) models.

Harmful algae are present in the coastal waters of British Columbia, Canada yet little is known about the spatial and temporal distributions of the biotoxins produced by these organisms. We describe a method for profiling dissolved and particulate algal biotoxins in sea water including those associated with amnesic, paralytic, and diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (ASP, PSP and DSP). Surface sea water was filtered and biotoxins recovered from filters and filtrate using solvent extraction and solid phase extraction, respectively.

Mating behaviors are crucial for bird welfare, reproduction, and productivity in breeding flocks. During mating, a rooster mounts a hen, which may result in the hen overlapping or disappearing from top-view of a vision system. The objective of this research was to develop Deep learning models (DLM) to identify mating behavior based on bird count changes and bio-characteristics of mating.
