The basal thermal state of an ice sheet (frozen or thawed) is an important control upon its evolution, dynamics and response to external forcings. However, this state can only be observed directly within sparse boreholes or inferred conclusively from the presence of subglacial lakes. Here we synthesize spatially extensive inferences of the basal thermal state of the Greenland Ice Sheet to better constrain this state. Existing inferences include outputs from the eight thermomechanical ice-flow models included in the SeaRISE effort. New remote-sensing inferences of the basal thermal state are derived from Holocene radiostratigraphy, modern surface velocity and MODIS imagery. Both thermomechanical modeling and remote inferences generally agree that the Northeast Greenland Ice Stream and large portions of the southwestern ice-drainage systems are thawed at the bed, whereas the bed beneath the central ice divides, particularly their west-facing slopes, is frozen. Elsewhere, there is poor agreement regarding the basal thermal state. Both models and remote inferences rarely represent the borehole-observed basal thermal state accurately near NorthGRIP and DYE-3. This synthesis identifies a large portion of the Greenland Ice Sheet (about one third by area) where additional observations would most improve knowledge of its overall basal thermal state.

Introduction: Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy under MRI control has emerged as a safe and efficient alternative to microsurgery in epilepsy and neurooncology procedures. Yet it has been used only recently in seldom European centers. Here, we report our 4 years' experience with LITT in children (complications, epileptic and oncologic outcomes).

Amphibians are the most threatened vertebrates, yet their resilience in relation to growth and locomotor performance with rising temperatures remains poorly understood. Here, we chose a critically endangered amphibian-the Chinhai spiny newt ()-as the study species and set four water temperature gradients (20 °C, 24 °C, 28 °C, and 32 °C) to simulate climate changes. The thermal performance to climate warming was quantified by measuring morphometric parameters, basal metabolic rate (oxygen consumption rate), and the locomotor performance of Chinhai spiny newt larvae.

As global climate change exacerbates extreme heat events, the interplay between heat stress and blast disease resistance in rice remains poorly understood. In this study, through integrated transcriptome profiling and systematic phenotyping of mutants in several thermosensory pathways, we identified HsfA1 as a positive regulator of heat priming-enhanced blast resistance in rice. Systematic analysis of microRNA (miRNA) dynamics, bioinformatics prediction, and RNA pull-down experiments revealed that , a temperature-responsive miRNA, directly suppresses the expression of by targeting the second exon of messenger RNA (mRNA).

Despite well-established cellular and molecular adaptations, opioid analgesic tolerance can be rapidly reversed in settings where these drugs are not expected. The specific neuronal populations that orchestrate this expectation-based tolerance remain poorly defined. In this study, we used a contextual tolerance training method alongside whole-brain clearing and immunostaining to identify brain regions involved in contextual tolerance and to pinpoint a specific neuronal ensemble in the ACC activated by this process.

Accurate gene expression quantification using reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) requires stable reference genes (RGs) for reliable normalization. However, few studies have systematically identified RGs suitable for simultaneous high salt, alkaline, and high-temperature conditions. This study addresses this gap by evaluating the stability of eight candidate RGs in the anaerobic halophilic alkalithermophile JW/NM-WN-LF under combined salt, alkali, and thermal stresses.
