. This study examines the impact of one-time direct application of haemostatic agent zeolite-bentonite powder to wounded skin on the healing process in rats. . 24 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into two groups ( = 12): (1) the rats whose wounds were washed only with sterile normal saline (NS-treated) and (2) those treated with zeolite-bentonite compound (ZEO-treated). The wound was circular, full-thickness, and 2 cm in diameter. At the end of the 12th day, six animals from each group were randomly selected and terminated. The remaining rats were terminated after 21 days. Just after scarification, skin samples were excised and sent for stereological evaluation. . The results showed a significant difference between the two groups regarding the length density of the blood vessels and diameter of the large and small vessels on the 12th day after the wound was inflicted. Besides, volume density of both the dermis and collagen bundles was reduced by 25% in the ZEO-treated rats in comparison to the NS-treated animals after 21 days. . One-time topical usage of zeolite-bentonite haemostatic powder on an animal skin wound might negatively affect the healing process through vasoconstriction and inhibition of neoangiogenesis.

Compared to sun-exposed melanomas, acral melanomas are genetically diverse and occur in areas with low sun exposure and high mechanical loads. During metastatic growth, melanomas invade from the epidermis to the dermis layers through dense tumor stroma and are exposed to fibrillar collagen architectures and mechanical stresses. However, the role of these signals during acral melanoma pathogenesis is not well understood.

Animal Studied: A 20-year-old Quarter Horse gelding.
Procedures: An incisional biopsy of the medial caruncle mass was initially performed, with histopathology suggesting a sarcoid or other spindle cell neoplasm.

Enteropathogenic (EPEC) is a pathogen that causes diarrhea that can be subdivided into typical (tEPEC) and atypical (aEPEC), based on the production of an adhesin termed Bundle-Forming Pilus (BFP) in the former group. aEPEC is one of the main bacterial pathogens isolated from individuals with diarrhea, and some serotypes have been implicated in diarrheal outbreaks in Brazil, such as the O2:H16. A comparative genomic analysis of aEPEC of this serotype led to the identification of a gene encoding a previously uncharacterized autotransporter protein.

This study presents quantitative applications of label-free imaging methods to characterize the structure of the uterosacral ligaments (USLs) before, during, and after loading. Rat USLs (n=14) were excised with their spinal and cervical attachments, clamped at these attachment sites, and pulled uniaxially in a custom-built tensile testing machine along their main in vivo loading direction. During uniaxial testing, optical coherence tomography (OCT) images were recorded, revealing the re-arrangement and failure of the structural components of the USLs.

We developed a computational pathology pipeline to extract and analyze collagen disorder architecture (CoDA) features from whole slide images (WSIs) of 2,212 colon cancer (CC) patients across multiple institutions. CoDA features-capturing collagen fragmentation, bundling, anisotropy, density, and rigidity, were evaluated for associations with clinical variables (overall stage, T/N/M stage), molecular classifications (Consensus Molecular Subtypes [CMS1-4]), and genetic mutations (KRAS, BRAF, NRAS) using the Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction. These analyses revealed significant differences in CoDA feature distributions across multiple subgroups, suggesting that collagen architecture varies meaningfully with tumor stage, molecular subtype, and mutation status.
