Local Flap Reconstruction of Burn Contractures in Extremities and Neck: A Nine-Year Experience with Long-Term Outcome Evaluation in Southwestern Iran.

Background: Treating burn scar contractures remains challenging for reconstructive surgeons; no clear guidelines declare the optimal and most effective technique. We evaluated the efficacy of local flaps in treating patients with post-burn contractures.

Methods: This retrospective study included 243 patients with post-burn contractures referred to Taleghani Hospital (Khuzestan, southwest Iran) for local flap reconstruction from 2011 to 2020.

Introduction: Avicenna statedinteresting points on the symptoms of rib bone fractures, their physical examination, and also treatment and management of the complications in his master piece Canon in Tibb.

Method: We reviewed Avicenna's Canon and his viewpoints on the anatomy of the rib bones and their fractures and compared it with conventional medicine.

Result: He described the ana omy of the ribs; he explained the effectiveness of their structure in the prote tion of vital organs.

Emergency Operating Room Workload Pattern: A Single Center Experience from Southern Iran.

Objective: To determine the epidemiology and pattern of emergency operating room workload in Nemazee hospital affiliated with Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran.

Methods: All surgical emergency operations which were performed in Nemazee hospital, Shiraz, Iran were collected over twelve months (September 2007 to September 2008). The data obtained included indications, presenting symptoms the services provided and the demographic information of the patients.
