An enantioselective carbonyl allylation of aldehydes with simple alkenes has been achieved via a one-pot protocol consisting of a Pd-catalyzed allylic C-H borylation with bis(pinanediolato)diboron and a chiral Brønsted acid catalyzed asymmetric allylborylation, delivering homoallylic alcohols in high yields and with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities. The double chiral induction of chiral allylic borate and chiral phosphoric acid allows the reaction to give excellent stereoselectivities.

Many chirality-sensitive light-matter interactions are governed by chiral electron dynamics. Therefore, the development of advanced technologies making use of chiral phenomena would critically benefit from measuring and controlling chiral electron dynamics on their natural attosecond timescales. Such endeavours have so far been hampered by the lack of characterized circularly polarized attosecond pulses, an obstacle that has recently been overcome.

()-2-chloro-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethanol (()-CPEO) is an important chiral precursor of the antifungal drug luriconazole. In this study, a mutant alcohol dehydrogenase, ADH from , was redesigned for the efficient synthesis of ()-CPEO by using virtual saturation mutagenesis to assess beneficial site combinations. Five poorly conserved sites in the active pocket of the enzyme were identified via multiple sequence alignment with enzymes exhibiting high activity toward acetophenone derivatives.

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) that have wingtip groups with low steric bulk, such as 1,3-dimethyl-benzimidazol-2-ylidene (NHC), form bis-complexes with metal atoms when they are deposited onto Au(111) surfaces . These complexes self-assemble into three different lattices: a herringbone, a double-herringbone, and a chiral kagome lattice. The static properties of these lattices have been studied with scanning tunneling microscopy and theoretical methods.
