Infections caused by multi drug-resistant gram-negative bacilli are increasingly reported worldwide. Colistin, tigecycline and aminoglycosides are almost the only and last choice antibiotics in the treatment of infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales members. Ceftazidime-avibactam is a novel antibiotic combination consisting of a broad-spectrum cephalosporin and avibactam with good antimicrobial activity against carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales members.

The spread of arbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales has raised concern in clinical settings due to the limited therapeutic options available. OXA-48-like enzymes are still sporadic in South America. The aim of this study was to characterize a multidrug-resistant isolate from a hospitalized patient in Buenos Aires city.

Colistin is a last-resort antibiotic in fighting severe infections caused by multidrug resistant Gram negative pathogens in hospitals. Zoonotic bacteria acquire colistin resistance in animal reservoirs and mediate its spread along the food chain. This is the case of non-typhoid serovars of .

The plasmid-mediated (X7) conferring high-level tigecycline resistance was identified in five -positive strains (ST10 [ = 3] and ST155 [ = 2]) isolated from chickens in Egypt. Two fosfomycin-resistant -carrying IncFII plasmids (∼79 kb in size) were detected. Transposase IS (IS family) is syntenic with (X7) in all isolates, suggesting its role in the mobilization of (X7).
