Introduction: Tumour-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is rare. At our referral centre, we see a substantial number of TIO. Therefore, we planned to study their profile and treatment outcomes to provide insight in management.

Background: Limited data exists regarding the incidence of aborted pancreatic surgery due to radiologically occult metastatic disease (ROMD). This study presents a single-institution experience aimed at identifying potential risk factors associated with ROMD of patients undergoing routine preoperative magnetic resonance imaging with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) METHODS: Patients with PDAC taken for curative intent pancreatic surgery between January 2012 and December 2022 following preoperative imaging MRI protocol were retrospectively reviewed, and those who had aborted surgery due to ROMD were identified. Binary logistic regression analysis was performed to identify potential predictors of ROMD.

Background: Some patients with resectable or borderline resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) may have distant metastases, undetected on preoperative imaging or early recurrence, within 6 months after surgery. Occult metastases (OMs) must be accurately predicted to optimize multidisciplinary treatment.

Aim: To investigate the efficacy of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in predicting OM.

Fecal immunochemical test surveillance in colorectal cancer following adenoma resection: A longitudinal, population-based linked cohort study in China.

PLoS Med

September 2025

Department of Colorectal Surgery and Oncology, Key Laboratory of Cancer Prevention and Intervention, Ministry of Education, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Background: Although the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is widely utilized in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening because of its noninvasive, rapid, and cost-effective characteristics, its effectiveness in post-adenoma resection surveillance remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the benefits of follow-up FIT surveillance in individuals with adenoma resection and to identify risk factors associated with adenoma recurrence.

Methods And Findings: As part of China's National Screening Project, we identified a total of 5,911 individuals who underwent adenoma removal during the first round of CRC screening in Jiashan and Haining between 2006 and 2021.

Oral and Oropharyngeal Manifestations of Child Abuse: A State-of-the-Art Review.

Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg

September 2025

Child Protection Program, Division of General Pediatrics, Boston Children's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Objective: Child abuse carries significant morbidity and mortality, with children younger than 1 year being most vulnerable. Oral cavity and oropharyngeal injuries are rare in infants, particularly among those who are pre-mobile, and are considered sentinel injuries, as they may precede more severe physical abuse. It is vital that clinicians without specialty training in child abuse, including otolaryngologists, recognize oral manifestations of child physical abuse.
