Article Abstract

Five hundred-nanometer-thick ZnO-based textured polycrystalline films consisting of 490-nm-thick Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films deposited on 10-nm-thick Ga-doped ZnO (GZO) films exhibited a high Hall mobility (μ H) of 50.1 cm(2)/Vs with a carrier concentration (N) of 2.55 × 10(20) cm(-3). Firstly, the GZO films were prepared on glass substrates by ion plating with dc arc discharge, and the AZO films were then deposited on the GZO films by direct current magnetron sputtering (DC-MS). The GZO interface layers with a preferential c-axis orientation play a critical role in producing AZO films with texture development of a well-defined (0001) orientation, whereas 500-nm-thick AZO films deposited by only DC-MS showed a mixture of the c-plane and the other plane orientation, to exhibit a μ H of 38.7 cm(2)/Vs with an N of 2.22 × 10(20) cm(-3).

Bulk chalcogenides from the system (GeTe)In, where x = 0; 5 and 10 mol%, were synthesized by a two-step melt quenching technique. New layered composite materials based on them and the azo polymer [1-4-(3-carboxy-4-hydrophenylazo) benzensulfonamido]-1,2-ethanediyl, sodium salt] has been prepared through spin coating, electrospray deposition and via vacuum-thermal evaporation of the chalcogenide and spin coating of the azo polymer onto it. Using the latter technology, a material consisting of one chalcogenide and one azo polymer film and three chalcogenide and three azo polymer films has been fabricated.

The solvent casting technique was applied to synthesize silane crosslinked, sepiolite reinforced chitosan/polyethene glycol novel nanocomposites. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) shows high compatibility between sepiolite and polymer matrix. The particle size of sepiolite, ranging between 90 and 100 nm, confirms the formation of nanocomposites.

Azobenzene-based polymers have been prominent photochromic materials (PCMs) for decades but still suffer from low efficiency and instability in photallochromy due to hindered isomerization in the solid state. Here, a controlled charge interaction between additive SnO nanoparticles and azophenyl polyether was designed and established using density functional theory (DFT) prediction and experimental verification, aiming to disrupt - stacking among azobenzene moieties. Theoretical calculations, time-resolved fluorescence spectra, and zeta potential tests have proven that negative charges generated on the surface of SnO nanoparticles under UV-A (330-370 nm) irradiation transfer to positively charged carboxyl groups of azobenzene moieties, accelerating the isomerization speed (response time ≤ 10 s) and stabilizing the conformation of azobenzene.

We report the fabrication and characterization of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) optoelectronic synaptic devices based on sol-gel-derived thin films with varying Al concentrations (0~4.0 wt%). Structural and optical analyses reveal that moderate Al doping modulates the crystal orientation, optical bandgap, and defect levels of ZnO films.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have garnered significant interest for applications in photocatalysis, energy storage, gas storage/separation, and optoelectronics, yet achieving high-quality COF films with high UV-shielding properties still remains a challenge. In this study, transparent COF films are successfully developed and revealed their remarkable UV-shielding capability: effectively blocking 99.9% of UV light while maintaining over 96% visible transmittance.
