We present a high-resolution distance dependence study of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) enabled by atomic layer deposition (ALD) at 55 and 100 °C. ALD is used to deposit monolayers of Al2O3 on bare silver film over nanospheres (AgFONs) and AgFONs functionalized with self-assembled monolayers. Operando SERS is used to measure the intensities of the Al-CH3 and C-H stretches from trimethylaluminum (TMA) as a function of distance from the AgFON surface. This study clearly demonstrates that SERS on AgFON substrates displays both a short- and long-range nanometer scale distance dependence. Excellent agreement is obtained between these experiments and theory that incorporates both short-range and long-range terms. This is a high-resolution operando SERS distance dependence study performed in one integrated experiment using ALD Al2O3 as the spacer layer and Raman label simultaneously. The long-range SERS distance dependence should make it possible to detect chemisorbed surface species located as far as ∼3 nm from the AgFON substrate and will provide new insight into the surface chemistry of ALD and catalytic reactions.

Introduction: Traffic signals are the controlling devices aimed to reduce crossing conflicts at intersections. However, rear-end and lane-changing conflicts at signalized intersection approaches are a significant problem. This work aims to proactively assess and spatially map the safety and risk at signalized intersection approaches by field data collection and microsimulation modeling using PTV-VISSIM.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate treatment indications, compare therapeutic approaches, and assess outcomes in patients with infrarenal penetrating aortic ulcers (iPAUs).
Methods: This was a retrospective, multicentre, observational study of patients with iPAUs treated between January 2018 and December 2022 across 12 European centres. Treatment strategies included open surgical repair (OSR) and endovascular techniques, including balloon expandable stent grafts (BESGs), covered endovascular reconstruction of the aortic bifurcation (CERAB), and endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) using bifurcated or tube grafts.

Background: Patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) experience reduced physical capacity, which affects daily life functionality. Frailty signifies increased vulnerability due to diminished physiological reserves and is common in the elderly and those with chronic diseases, but has not been investigated in PH. This study aimed to create a frailty index for PH, to assess the prevalence of frailty, to determine frailty severity and progression over time and to establish a potential association between frailty and mortality in patients with PH.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the standard surgical treatment for end-stage hip osteoarthritis, with its success dependent on precise preoperative planning, which, in turn, relies on accurate three-dimensional segmentation and reconstruction of the periarticular bone of the hip joint. However, patients with hip osteoarthritis often exhibit pathological characteristics, such as joint space narrowing, femoroacetabular impingement, osteophyte formation, and joint deformity. These changes present significant challenges for traditional manual or semi-automatic segmentation methods.

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence have significantly enhanced the efficiency of abdominal MRI segmentation, thereby improving the screening and diagnosis of liver diseases. However, accurate precise liver segmentation in MRI remains a challenging task due to the high variability in liver morphology and the limited availability of high-quality annotated datasets. To address these challenges, this study presents an advanced semi-supervised learning framework that integrates cross-teaching with pseudo-label generation and intra-batch entropy minimization.
