Article Abstract

Purpose: To investigate the miRNA (including miR-155, miR-146a and miR-146b) expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBNCs) or lesions tissues in oral lichen planus (OLP) patients and healthy controls and the relationship between miRNA and OLP clinical features.

Methods: The expression of miRNA(miR-155, miR-146a and miR-146b)was assessed by quantitative fluorescent PCR in peripheral blood cells or lesions tissues in OLP patients and healthy controls. U6 was used as reference gene. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS17.0 software package.

Results: Real-time PCR showed that the expression of miR-155 in OLP PBNCs was significantly higher than that in controls, miR-155 expression in OLP lesions tissues was 7.0 times higher than that of PBMCs. Correlation analysis showed that the level of miR-155 expression in PBMCs was positively correlated with REU score(correlation coefficient R=0.887, P<0.01). There was no significant difference in miR-146a and miR-146b expression in PBMCs between OLP and control group. On the contrary, the miR-146a expression in OLP lesions tissues was significantly upreguated than that in control group (P=0.003).

Conclusions: The results indicated that miR-155 and miR-146a might play important roles in the pathogenesis of OLP and OLP is likely a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by local inflammation.

Introduction: A no-biopsy approach has been suggested for diagnosing coeliac disease (CD) in adult patients. This approach is already well established in diagnosing children with CD. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase (IgA anti-tTG) in predicting duodenal mucosal lesions diagnostic of CD in adult patients.

Background: Nodular hidradenoma (NH) is a rare benign adnexal tumor originating from sweat glands, often misdiagnosed due to nonspecific clinical manifestations. Ultrasonography (US) plays a critical role in the diagnosis of skin tumors, yet systematic descriptions of its sonographic features remain limited.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the very-high-frequency (VHF) characteristics of eccrine nodular hidradenoma (ENH) and establish key imaging criteria to differentiate it from other cutaneous/subcutaneous lesions.

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological condition characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity. Although commonly associated with pelvic pain and infertility, its incidental discovery during a cesarean section is rare. To our knowledge, we report the first documented case of decidualized endometriosis identified on the anterior peritoneum during an emergency cesarean section in a 28-year-old woman with only one previous cesarean delivery and no prior symptoms.

A 1-year-old intact Nigerian dwarf nulliparous doe was presented to the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Large Animal Teaching Hospital in March 2024 for evaluation of recurrent perivulvar masses of 3 mo duration. Transcutaneous ultrasonographic examination of the labia and ventrolateral peri-vulvar area was carried out. This examination revealed a horizontally oriented, bilobed mass on the dorsal left labia majora, and a separate mass located directly below the ventral vulvar commissure.

Purpose: To report a case of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) initially presenting as orbital involvement, describe its successful management, and provide a comprehensive literature review.

Case Report: A 33-year-old female patient presented with swelling, redness, tenderness, and a mass under the left upper eyelid for one month. Upper lid eversion showed a multilobulated lesion in the subconjunctival area of the same region.
