A new Raman-based apparatus for proximal detection of energetic materials on people, was developed and tested for the first time. All the optical and optoelectronics components of the apparatus, as well as their optical matching, were carefully chosen and designed to respect international eye-safety regulations. In this way, the apparatus is suitable for civil applications on people in public areas such as airports and metro or railway stations. The acquisition software performs the data analysis in real-time to provide a fast response to the operator. Moreover, it allows for deployment of the apparatus either as a stand alone device or as part of a more sophisticated warning system architecture made up of several sensors. Using polyamide as substrate, the apparatus was able to detect surface densities of ammonium nitrate (AN), 2-methyl-1,3,5-trinitrobenzene (TNT), 3-nitrooxy-2,2-bis(nitrooxymethyl)propyl] nitrate (PETN) and urea nitrate (UN) in the range of 100-1000 μg/cm² at a distance of 6.4 m using each time a single laser pulse of 3 mJ/cm². The limit of detection calculated for AN is 289 μg/cm². AN and UN provided the highest percentages of true positives (>82% for surface densities of 100-400 μg/cm² and fingerprints) followed by TNT and PETN (17%-70% for surface densities of 400-1000 μg/cm² and fingerprints).

Antigen-induced clustering of cell surface receptors, including T cell receptors and Fc receptors, represents a widespread mechanism in cell signalling activation. However, most naturally occurring antigens, such as tumour-associated antigens, stimulate limited receptor clustering and on-target responses owing to insufficient density. Here we repurpose proximity labelling, a method used to biotinylate and identify spatially proximal proteins, to amplify designed probes as synthetic antigen clusters on the cell surface.

With the acceleration of global industrialization, a large amount of polluted wastewater is discharged indiscriminately, which both pollutes the environment and threatens human health. In this study, by constructing a binary system of unsaturated polyester resin/carboxychitosan, and improving the inherent defects of carboxychitosan aerogel, we successfully prepared aerogels with high porosity, low density, and laminar porous structure for water remediation by using a combination of the sol-gel method and directional freezing technology. Thanks to the synergistic effect of surface wettability and special pore structure, the aerogel not only adsorbs and separates MB and Pb(II) efficiently with a separation efficiency of more than 99 %, but also has a separation efficiency of 99.

Background: BCMA-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy represents a major therapeutic breakthrough for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM), offering deep and durable responses in heavily pretreated patients. However, a subset of patients experience early relapse or fail to respond, highlighting the need for strategies to enhance efficacy. Gamma-secretase inhibitors (GSIs) have been shown to increase surface BCMA expression on malignant plasma cells and may potentiate the activity of BCMA CAR-T cells, particularly in patients with low baseline BCMA antigen density.

Spinel lithium manganate (LiMnO) is considered a highly promising cobalt-free cathode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) owing to its three-dimensional Li-ion diffusion channels and the abundance of manganese. However, its practical applications are limited due to the substantial capacity deterioration induced by the Jahn-Teller effect and interfacial instability with the organic electrolyte. In this work, we propose a polyanion-based surface engineering strategy that enables simultaneous doping and the formation of a protective coating on the LiMnO cathode.
