The objective of this study was to determine the appropriate timing of aprepitant administration in patients with oral cancer by comparing the antiemetic effect of aprepitant administered on the first day (first-day group) and third day (third-day group) of combination chemotherapy with docetaxel, nedaplatin (divided doses for 5 days), and 5-fluorouracil. 1. In both groups, very few cases of vomiting were observed. Therefore, we could not compare the incidence of vomiting. 2. The mean highest grade of nausea in the third-day group was significantly higher than that in the first-day group (2.33±0.71 vs 0.78±0.22, p=0.002; U-test). 3. In addition, the mean area under the curve of the chronological changes in the grade of nausea in the third-day group was significantly higher than that in the first-day group (13.44±9.58 vs 3.11±3.59, p=0.019; U-test). 4. The incidence of nausea of grade 2 or higher in the first-day group was significantly lower than that in the third-day group (11.1% [1/9] vs 88.9% [8/9], p<0.001; c 2 test). These results indicate that initiation of aprepitant administration on the first day of combination chemotherapy with docetaxel, nedaplatin, and 5-fluorouracil successfully prevented the development of nausea in patients with oral cancer.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the analgesic efficacy of liposomal bupivacaine with that of traditional ropivacaine in adductor canal blocks for patients undergoing knee arthroplasty.
Patients And Methods: A total of 119 consenting participants, who were scheduled for elective knee arthroplasty (including total knee replacement and unicompartmental knee replacement) under general anesthesia, were randomly assigned to either receive an ultrasound-guided adductor canal block with ropivacaine or liposomal bupivacaine. The primary endpoint of this study was the pain scores at 2, 24, 48, and 72 hours post-surgery.

Objectives: Acute lung injury (ALI) is an acute respiratory failure syndrome characterized by impaired gas exchange. Due to the lack of effective targeted drugs, it is associated with high mortality and poor prognosis. (TW) has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity in the treatment of various diseases.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects intrauterine glucose regulation and influences heart rate variability (HRV) and cortisol levels in newborns, which are markers of autonomic and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis function. This study aimed to evaluate HRV and cortisol levels in newborns of healthy mothers and those with GDM within the first 24 h of life, and to compare these measures between sexes.
Methods: A total of 59 newborns were monitored for heart rate (HR) and HRV from the 6 h of life.

Background: Recent studies demonstrated associations between hematological parameters and indices (HPI) obtained from full blood count (FBC) collected on the first day of life (D1) and the occurrence of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in premature infants. Our objective was to evaluate the association between HPI obtained from the FBC of D1 and the occurrence of IVH in premature infants, to assess whether these can be used as prognostic markers.
Methods: This is a retrospective study, including preterm infants with gestational age below 30 weeks.
