The current study examined the generalizability of the moral foundations hypothesis (Graham, Haidt, & Nosek, 2009), which predicts that conservatism will be positively related to the binding foundations (i.e., virtues of ingroup/loyalty, authority/respect, and purity/sanctity). Religiosity has been consistently linked with the binding foundations in predominately White samples, but Black people in the United States are both more religious and more liberal than White people. In a sample of college students (N = 693; 58.3% Black, 41.7% White), examination of measurement invariance suggested metric, but not scalar invariance. The relationship between conservatism and the binding foundations-specifically, respect/authority and purity/sanctity-was weaker in Black people than in White people. These results were replicated in a second sample (N = 490; 63.5% Black, 36.5% White) using a 4-item measure of conservatism rather than a single item. Once again examination of measurement invariance suggested metric but not scalar invariance, and conservatism was more weakly related to the binding foundations in Black people than it was in White people. Implications for future theory and research are discussed.

c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs), a subfamily of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), are key mediators of cellular responses to environmental stress, inflammation, and apoptotic signals. The three isoforms-JNK1, JNK2, and JNK3 exhibit both overlapping and isoform-specific functions. While JNK1 and JNK2 are broadly expressed across tissues and regulate immune signaling, cell proliferation, and apoptosis, JNK3 expression is largely restricted to the brain, heart, and testis, where it plays a crucial role in neuronal function and survival.

This study examined the effects of 24R,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (24R,25(OH)D) in estrogen-responsive laryngeal cancer tumorigenesis in vivo, the mechanisms involved, and whether the ability of the tumor cells to produce 24R,25(OH)D locally is estrogen-dependent. Estrogen receptor alpha-66 positive (ER+) UM-SCC-12 cells and ER- UM-SCC-11A cells responded differently to 24R,25(OH)D in vivo; 24R,25(OH)D enhanced tumorigenesis in ER+ tumors but inhibited tumorigenesis in ER- tumors. Treatment with 17β-estradiol (E) for 24 h reduced levels of CYP24A1 protein but increased 24R,25(OH)D production in ER+ cells; treatment with E for 9 min reduced CYP24A1 at 24 h and reduced 24R,25(OH)D production in ER- cells.

Osteoarthritis (OA), the prevalent debilitating joint disorder, is accelerated by dysregulated intercellular crosstalk, yet the role of fibroblast-like synoviocyte (FLS)-derived extracellular vesicles and particles (EVPs) in disease progression remains to be elucidated. Here, integrative analysis of clinical specimens, animal models, and publicly available datasets revealed significant alterations in exosomal pathways within OA synovium. Proteomic profiling revealed distinct molecular signatures in EVPs derived from inflammatory and senescent FLSs, reflecting the pathophysiological status of their parent cells.

Background: Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a vitamin A transport protein synthesized in the liver and also plays a crucial role in inflammation and immune regulation. Low serum vitamin A levels have been observed in both pediatric and adult patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). The association between serum vitamin A levels and serum RBP4 levels, as well as the underlying mechanism involved inimpaired vitamin A transport during inflammation in UC patients, has yet to been investigated.
