Background: Curcuma longa L. is a perennial herb and a member of the Zingiberaceae (ginger) family, which is used extensively in foods as well as in Ayurvedic and Chinese systems of medicine. Current researches have focused on its antioxidant, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic and antimicrobial properties. Until now, very few studies suggested its role as a histological stain.
Aim: To ascertain its efficacy to be used as a counterstain after hematoxylin, to compare it's staining ability with that of routinely used eosin dye and also to ascertain its role in various collagen diseases.
Materials And Methods: Turmeric rhizomes were cut into small pieces and were dried. These dried turmeric rhizomes were milled to form fine powder, which was then processed to form dye for staining tissue structures.
Results: It revealed that turmeric can be used as a counterstain after hematoxylin, its staining ability was also good and comparable to that of eosin dye with a special affinity for collagen and muscle fibers.
Conclusion: Turmeric dye can be used as a histological stain, which stains similar to eosin dye and its specific affinity for collagen and muscle fibers authenticates its role in the treatment of collagen and muscle disorders.

Designing heterostructure-based nanocomposites has gained considerable interest in solving energy scarcity and environmental contamination issues. Herein, a heterojunction assembly of ternary SnS/MoS/g-CN nanocomposites with varying Sn and Mo weight ratios was synthesized through a single-step hydrothermal method. At an optimized ratio of tin to molybdenum (1 : 2), denoted as SM-3, promising electrochemical and photocatalytic performances were observed compared to bare SnS/g-CN and MoS/g-CN.

Curcumin, a natural polyphenol with potent antioxidant properties, may offer protection against cryo-induced injuries. An environmentally friendly and highly sensitive analytical method for the determination of the dye Eosin Y (EY) was developed utilizing vortex-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction based on deep eutectic solvents (DESs), combined with fluorescence detection (LPME-FLD). The extraction efficiencies of conventional solvents and various DES systems, composed of tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) and alcohols (hexanol, octanol, and decanol) in different ratios, were systematically compared. DFT calculations provided insights into the most stable forms of EY in solvents of varying polarity.

Aim: To develop and validate a pathomics model that non-invasively predicts CD40LG expression from routine haematoxylin-eosin (HE) slides and clarifies its prognostic value in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).
Methods: HE whole-slide images from 327 TCGA-LUAD cases were randomly split into training (70 %) and internal-validation (30 %) sets; an external cohort of 89 patients from the Cancer Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences provided independent validation. From 1488 quantitative pathomic features, maximum-relevance minimum-redundancy and recursive feature elimination identified the most informative variables.
