In this preliminary study, we examined the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on social cognition in 36 individuals with schizophrenia. Participants received a baseline assessment and one week later received either anodal, cathodal, or sham tDCS, with 12 participants randomized to each condition. A single 20-minute session tDCS was administered bilaterally over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (centered at positions Fp1 and Fp2) at 2 mA. Among the 4 social cognitive tasks, participants showed a significant improvement on one of them, emotion identification, following anodal stimulation. Findings demonstrate the safety of this procedure and suggest potential therapeutic effects on one aspect of social cognition in schizophrenia.

Importance: Higher intellectual abilities have been associated with lower mortality risk in several longitudinal cohort studies. However, these studies did not fully account for early life contextual factors or test whether the beneficial associations between higher neurocognitive functioning and mortality extend to children exposed to early adversity.

In this pre-registered experiment conducted in the Netherlands and Türkiye (N = 550), we investigated how the source of advice (peer vs. expert) influences people's decision-making when assessing the carbon footprint of a flight between two cities. We also examined whether this effect was influenced by their conspiracy mentality, collective narcissism, epistemic individualism, and climate change scepticism.

With the persistence of difficult employment, a large number of college students feel anxious and nervous about job hunting. College students with different family economic status have various feelings and performances when faced with employment, possibly due to subjective social class differences. The present study investigated the employment confidence of 611 undergraduates in Chongqing, aimed to ascertain the overall employment confidence of Chinese college students, and tried to analyze how subjective social class works on the employment confidence of college students and its influencing mechanism.
