We demonstrated the distinguishing between plasmonic absorption modes by exploiting an inversed architecture with tunable atomic-layer-deposited dielectric spacer layer. The dielectric spacer layer was manipulated between the bottom metal-nanoparticle monolayer and the upper metal film to inspect the contributions of metal nanoparticles and dielectric film in a step-by-step manner. The experimental and simulated differences between the two peak absorption positions (Δf) and between the corresponding half width at half maxima (Δw) confirmed the evolutions of gap plasmon and interference-enhanced local surface plasmon resonance absorption modes in the plasmonic metamaterial absorbers (PMAs), which were useful for understanding the underlying mechanism of amorphous PMAs.

The iron nickel magnesium tetra-oxide (FeNiMgO) nanocomposites (NCs) first reported in this article were synthesized using the sol-gel method. For investigation using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), the presence of a cubic structure is confirmed. In Raman spectroscopy, the vibrational modes are investigated.

Aluminum (Al) is a cost-effective alternative to noble metals for plasmonics, particularly in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible regions. However, in the near-infrared (NIR) region, its performance is hindered by interband transitions (IBTs) at around 825 nm, leading to increased optical losses and broad resonances. Surface lattice resonances (SLRs) offer a promising solution by enhancing the plasmonic quality factor (-factor) through coherent coupling of localized surface plasmon (LSP) modes with Rayleigh anomalies.

A comprehensive review of existing toxicity and human exposure data for the ultraviolet filter avobenzone (butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane) was conducted to assess its safety as currently used in over-the-counter sunscreen formulations. Avobenzone has a suitable safety profile without any clear markers of toxicity or endpoints of concern. There are sufficient clinical studies and and toxicity studies in animal models to assess avobenzone's pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and potential toxicological properties, supportive of its long history of safe use.
