There are several conditions that results in excessive gingival display. In case of class I vertical maxillary excess the reason for this excessive display is the hypermobile lip. Though orthodontic treatment is the choice of treatment, surgical repositioning along with the orthodontics gives more predictable and stable results. This case report discusses cosmetic surgical management of case with class I vertical maxillary excess with excessive gingival display. The technique involves removal of strip of mucosal tissue from the labial vestibule thereby limiting the retraction of elevator muscles.

Periodontal inflammation, such as gingivitis, involves neutrophil infiltration and elevated myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, leading to excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) that damage cellular structures, including proteins and lipids. In the oral cavity, oxidative stress may worsen due to local iron release from microbleeding, promoting tissue destruction and gingival recession. This study evaluated the protective effects of orange peel aqueous extract (OPE) and hesperidin (HSP) against iron-induced oxidative damage in human plasma.

Background And Objectives: Periodontitis is a chronic multifactorial inflammatory disease caused by the excessive host immune response to bacterial infection, leading to periodontal tissue destruction. Owing to their plasticity, macrophages are key players in this process, and B10 cells, with their immunosuppressive efects, are vital for periodontal immunity. We propose that, in periodontitis, B10 cells transmit immunosuppressive signals programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) /programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) signalling, stimulating macrophage diferentiation, alleviating inflammation, restoring homeostasis, and reducing alveolar bone resorption.

Advances in dental implantology, such as immediate loading protocols, digital planning, and improved biomaterials, have revolutionized the treatment of edentulous patients by offering faster and more predictable outcomes. This case report describes a complete digital workflow for maxillary and mandibular implant-supported full-arch prostheses in an edentulous patient with nonuniform bone shape, limited interarch space, and excessive gingival display. A full-arch immediate loading protocol, including a fixation base, a scalloped bone-reduction guide for preserving the interdental bone, an osteotomy guide, and provisional prostheses, was digitally designed and fabricated.

Current clinical periodontitis treatments including surgical treatment and antibacterial treatment might cause excessive immune response in the host and cannot effectively promote the regeneration of periodontal tissue. In this study, we explored irisin serving as a novel biomarker in gingival tissues from periodontitis patients and confirmed its immunoregulatory roles, including its capacity to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppress inflammatory responses, through activation of the P53 and PPAR-γ signaling pathways. Furthermore, we established a bioactive glass nanoparticle compound with irisin (IR-nBG) and evaluated its antioxidant and osteoimmunomodulatory properties in a ROS-rich inflammatory microenvironment.
