Aldazines (Bis-Schiff bases) 1-24 were synthesized using aromatic aldehydes (heterocyclic and benzaldehydes) and hydrazine hydrate under reflux using conventional heating and/or via ultrasound irradiation using BiCl3 as catalyst. Ultrasonication conditions with cat. BiCl3 proved to be an effective, environmentally friendly synthetic procedure. This methodology is robust in the presence of electron donating and electron withdrawing groups affording desired products with high yields (>95%) in just a couple of minutes vs. hours using conventional heating.

In this research, a novel dual chemosensor L has been reported. It has been characterised by FTIR, H-NMR, ESI-MS, elemental analyses, X-ray single crystal analysis and DFT studies. In a 1:1 methanol-water medium (v/v), the receptor L detected Ni with color change from colorless to yellow and Ag with turn-on fluorescence enhancement.

Organoselenium (OSe) compounds have received much attention due to their potential to inhibit tumor growth while also protecting cells from oxidative damage, making them promising cancer prevention agents. However, diphenyl diselenide (PhSe) has many drawbacks, such as increased lipophilicity with low oral bioavailability, toxicity issues due to poor selectivity, and limited physicochemical criteria. In this study, we developed two novel sets of diphenyl ether 5a-g and diphenyl ether hybridized with diselenide 6a-g and evaluated their anticancer activity and underlying cytotoxic mechanisms.

Copper and alloys suffer from severe corrosion during acid picking and acid cleaning in the industry. In this study, the corrosion inhibition of copper in sulfuric acid solution was inspired by the turtle shape-like bis-Schiff bases bearing fatty chain linkers (), which were synthesized from a natural analogue of vanillin under mild conditions.
