Article Abstract

Purpose: This study compared osseointegration of implants placed 14 days after implant site preparation with that of immediately placed implants in rabbit femurs.

Materials And Methods: Implants were placed bilaterally in the femoral condyles of 12 rabbits. On one side, the implants were placed 14 days after osteotomy, and the other side received implants immediately after osteotomy. Healing was assessed by microcomputed tomography and histomorphometry.

Results: The delayed implants (placed 14 days after osteotomy) showed better osseointegration than the immediately placed implants. Bone-to-implant contact and bone volume, as assessed by histomorphometry and microcomputed tomography, were significantly higher for the implants placed after 14 days.

Conclusions: From this study, it can be concluded that early osteotomy bed preparation and placement of implants after a 2-week delay predisposes to better bone-implant interface healing.

Microstructure of the anterior iliac Spine: Identification of trends and relation to fracture tolerance.

Seatbelt-induced pelvic iliac wing injuries have been observed since the 1970s, but only recently has there been quantification of fracture tolerance and injury risk of the iliac wing. Previous studies have shown a wide variation in iliac wing fracture tolerance with no significant relationships to pelvis size, sex, or other factors. A weighted average bone density (BD) calculation of the entire iliac wing produced the best predictive performance of fracture tolerance in parametric (Weibull) survival models.

This study aimed to investigate the age-related alterations in mesial roots of mandibular first molar in terms of root canal curvature values, dentin thickness, interorifice distance, deviation from apical foramen, and location of apical foramen using a three-dimensional curvature measurement method and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). Forty-five mesial roots of mandibular first molars from three age groups (Group 1: ≤ 30 years, Group 2: 31-59 years, Group 3: ≥ 60 years) were scanned using micro-CT. The central axis of each mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canal was analyzed using cubic B-spline curves to calculate canal curvature.

Objectives: A framework of high-reliability principles was used to identify, investigate, and mitigate infusion pump safety concerns at a large, multisite health care system. We developed a systematic approach to address challenges associated with overinfusions, underinfusions, and the inability to clear upstream occlusion alarms. We identified 112,875 upstream occlusion events for 389,604 infusion starts (failure rate, 29%) within 6 months.

Objective: This study aimed to predict and verify the mechanism of curculigoside in treating osteoporosis using network pharmacology, molecular docking technology, and micro-CT technology.

Methods: Herb databases were searched to identify and screen potential targets of curculigoside. The GeneCards platform was utilized to mine osteoporosis-related targets.
