A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, exopolysaccharide-producing, strictly aerobic bacterium with a single polar flagellum, designated strain HL22-2(T), was isolated from a phosphate mine situated in a suburb of Kunmming in Yunnan province in south-western China. The taxonomic status of this strain was evaluated by using a polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain HL22-2(T) was related to members of the genus Pseudomonas. 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities between strain HL22-2(T) and Pseudomonas xanthomarina KMM 1447(T), Pseudomonas alcaliphila AL15-21(T) and Pseudomonas stutzeri ATCC 17588(T) were 98.9, 98.10% and 98.06%, respectively. The major cellular fatty acids were C(18 : 1)ω7c, C(16 : 0) and summed feature 3 (C(16 : 1)ω7c and/or C(16 : 1)ω6c). The DNA G+C content was 60.3 mol%. On the basis of phenotypic characteristics, phylogenetic analysis and DNA-DNA relatedness values, strain HL22-2(T) represents a novel species of the genus Pseudomonas, for which the name Pseudomonas kunmingensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HL22-2(T) ( = CGMCC 1.12273(T) = DSM 25974(T)).

Here, Ln-Li co-doped YO@ZnO core-shell heterostructures were synthesized by three different techniques - intermediate layer conversion method, a hydrothermal method, and an interlayer mediated hydrothermal method. The synthesis procedure is optimized based on the thickness and compactness of the developed shell. The growth kinetics and synthesis mechanism of each adopted method have been explained in detail using XRD, FESEM, TEM, SAED, and EDX characterization techniques.

Hypervirulent (hvKp) and classical multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains belong to distinct lineages and hvKp are typically characterized by hypermucoid capsules that have been shown to limit horizontal gene transfer (HGT), including plasmid acquisition. However, the convergence of hypervirulence and MDR is increasingly common worldwide. When we profiled 127 antibiotic-susceptible hvKp strains, we found that most (86%) are highly permissive to plasmid transfer despite their capsules.

Objectives: Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common chronic degenerative diseases, with chondrocyte apoptosis and extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation as the major pathological changes. The mechanical stimulation can attenuate chondrocyte apoptosis and promote ECM synthesis, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the role of primary cilia (PC) in mediating the effects of mechanical stimulation on OA progression.

Objectives: Patients with connective tissue diseases (CTD) have a high incidence of cardiac involvement, which often presents insidiously and can progress rapidly, making it one of the leading causes of death. Multiparametric cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) provides a comprehensive quantitative evaluation of myocardial injury and is emerging as a valuable tool for detecting cardiac involvement in CTD. This study aims to investigate the correlations between CMR features and serological biomarkers in CTD patients, assess their potential clinical value, and further explore the impact of pre-CMR immunotherapy intensity on CMR-specific parameters, thereby evaluating the role of CMR in the early diagnosis of CTD-related cardiac involvement.

Background: In 2023, Mayotte, a French department in the Mozambique channel, experienced a long drought that led to potable water restrictions. Although the French vaccination schedule makes polio vaccination compulsory for children, the large proportion of migrants on the island coupled with the water crisis raised concerns about the establishment of poliovirus transmission chains. Therefore, a surveillance was implemented to detect polioviruses in sewage sampled in the two main wastewater treatment plants.
