Article Abstract

Previous structure based optimization in our laboratories led to the identification of a novel, high-affinity cyclic sulfone hydroxyethylamine-derived inhibitor such as 1 that lowers CNS-derived Aβ following oral administration to transgenic APP51/16 mice. Herein we report SAR development in the S3 and S2' subsites of BACE1 for cyclic sulfoxide hydroxyethyl amine inhibitors, the synthetic approaches employed in this effort, and in vivo data for optimized compound such as 11d.

Effect of membrane rigidification on the expression and cold-tolerance in .

Introduction: The cold tolerance of winter rapeseed cultivars is critically important for winter survival and yield formation in northern area. BrAFP1, an antifreeze protein in , is hypothesized to stabilize membranes and inhibit ice crystal formation.

Methods: we cloned the promoter from the cold-tolerant cultivar Longyou 7 (L7) and constructed the expression vector to investigate the impact of membrane state changes on BrAFP1 expression and the cold tolerance in winter rapeseed.

Robust and Reversible Supramolecular Adhesive via Dynamic Covalent Bond Crosslinking-Induced Assembly of Metal-Coordinated Nanoparticles.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

Supramolecular adhesives, praised for their stimuli-responsiveness and reversibility, have gained significant attention. However, most of these adhesives demonstrate low tolerance to extreme environments and exhibit diminished adhesion performance after cyclic adhesion testing. Herein, a hierarchical self-assembly strategy is introduced for the construction of supramolecular polymer networks (poly(UIO-TA)) through dynamic disulfide bond crosslinking-induced assembly of metal-coordinated nanoparticles (UIO-TA).

The Atacama Desert is emerging as an unexpected source of microbial life and, thus, a source of bioactive compounds and novel enzymes. Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenases (BVMOs), a subclass of flavin-dependent monooxygenases (FPMOs), have gained attention as promising biocatalysts for the biosynthesis of industrially relevant molecules for a wide range of applications, such as pharmaceuticals and polymers, among others. BVMOs catalyze the oxidation of ketones and cyclic ketones to esters and lactones, respectively, by using molecular oxygen and NAD(P)H.

Dynamic Cyclodipeptide Clamps as Enantioselective Receptors toward Vitamin K1.

Nano Lett

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shandong University, Jinan 250100, P. R. China.

We report the design of folded cyclodipeptides that show dynamic and adaptive conformational transitions responding to solvents and enantioselective recognition of a biomolecule, vitamin K1 (VK1). Postmodification of phenylalanine-based cyclodipeptides with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (pyrene, anthracene, and phenanthrene) produced chiral folded structures. Compared with other solvents, these cyclodipeptides exhibit ultrahigh sensitivity to dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), which induces a conformational transition from parallel to perpendicular dimerization.

For various applications, particularly in battery technology, there is a significant demand for uniform, high-quality lithium or lithium-coated materials. The use of electrodeposition techniques to obtain such materials has not proven practical or economical due to the low solubility of most lithium salts in suitable solvents. In this study, we propose efficient lithium electrodeposition processes and baths that can be operated at low temperatures and relatively low costs.
