Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) used to detect antibodies specific for common infectious agents such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are time-consuming and require large volumes of samples, which restrict their use. We propose a new assay based on a multiplexed infectious protein (MIP) microarray combining different epitopes representative of the four germs. Antigens and lysates were printed on nitrocellulose slides to constitute the microarray. First, the microarray was incubated with human serum samples. Then, the suitability of the microarray for analysis of the specificity of purified monoclonal immunoglobulin (mc Ig) was assessed using serum and mc Ig of HCV-positive patients. Bound human immunoglobulin G (IgG) was detected using fluorescently labeled secondary antibodies, and the signals were quantified. Results obtained in serum samples with the new MIP microarray immunoassay were compared with ELISAs; we observed concordances of 95% for EBV, 93% for CMV, 91% for T. gondii, and 100% for HCV. Regarding purified mc Ig of HCV-positive patients, 3 of 3 recognized antigens printed on the microarray. Hence, the novel EBV/CMV/T. gondii/HCV MIP microarray allows simultaneous diagnosis of polyclonal and monoclonal immune response to infectious diseases using very small volume samples.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of antithyroid drug (ATD) intervention on the expression levels of CD137, IFN-γ, and IL-17 in plasma cytokines, chemokines, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of hyperthyroid patients, compared to healthy controls. The goal is to elucidate the involvement of Th cell immune balance, as well as cellular and humoral immunity, in the pathogenesis of hyperthyroidism.
Methods: Eighty-one hyperthyroidism patients diagnosed between April 2021 and April 2022 were initially included in the study.

Cytokines can promote various cancer processes, such as angiogenesis, epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), invasion, and tumor progression, and maintain cancer stem-cell-like (CSCs) cells. The mechanism(s) that continuously promote(s) tumors to progress in the TME still need(s) to be investigated. The data in the present study analyzed the inflammatory, angiogenic, fibrogenic, and angiostatic cytokine profiles in the host serum during tumor development in a mouse model of human pancreatic cancer.

Background Although demographic and clinical factors such as age, certain comorbidities, and sex have been associated with COVID-19 outcomes, these studies were largely conducted in urban populations affiliated with large academic medical centers. There have been very few studies focusing on rural populations that also characterize broader changes in inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. Methodology A single-center study was conducted between June 2020 and March 2021 in Abilene, Texas, USA.

Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM), a recurrent inflammation disease of the non-lactating breast, has had an increasing clinical morbidity rate in recent years, and its complicated symptoms and unclear etiology make it challenging to treat. This rare benign inflammatory breast disease, centered on the lobules, represents the most challenging type of non-puerperal mastitis (NPM), also known as non-lactating mastitis. In this study, patients diagnosed with IGM (M, n = 23) were recruited as cases, and patients with benign control breast disease (C, n = 17) were enrolled as controls.
