Observation promotes motor skill learning. However, little is known about the type of model and conditions of observation that can optimize learning. In this study, we investigated the effects of the model's handedness and the observer's viewpoint on the learning of a complex spatiotemporal task. Four groups of right-handed participants observed, from either a first- or third-person viewpoint, right- or left-handed models performing the task. Observation resulted in significant learning. More importantly, observation of same-handed models resulted in improved learning as compared with observation of opposite-handed models, regardless of the observer's viewpoint. This suggests that the action observation network (AON) is more sensitive to the model's handedness than to the observer's viewpoint. Our results are consistent with recent studies that suggest that the AON is linked to or involves sensorimotor regions of the brain that simulate motor programming as if the observed movement was performed with one's own dominant hand.

Overweight and obesity represent common chronic metabolic disorders in the general population, and observed trends describe a substantial growth in the prevalence of weight excess also among individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D), the so-called 'lean phenotype' of diabetes. The sharp rise of weight excess and obesity-related cardio-nephron-metabolic burdens observed in T2D is expected to produce similar consequences in T1D, leading to the urgent need to endorse therapeutic protocols as in most parts of the World no adjunctive treatments are approved for T1D, making weight excess management challenging in these individuals. The notable results shown by newer glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and emerging dual agonists, especially while managing cardio-metabolic burdens, in T2D have encouraged fervent anecdotal and non-anecdotal research also in T1D, indicating that non-insulin injective agents can be effective and safe.

For real applications, developments of thin-film topological superconductors are highly desirable. In a previous study, eight chronically HBV-infected nucleos (t)ide analog (NA)-naïve patients began receiving entecavir (ETV) concomitant with a single ARC-520 HBV siRNA injection. This single dose of ARC-520 (SD) was followed by 6-8 months of ETV alone before the patients received 4-9 monthly doses of ARC-520, the multi-dose (MD) period, while continuing ETV. Quantities of HBV DNA, RNA, and antigens were measured from serum and a liver biopsy collected ~30 months after the last MD from five patients.

Wilson's disease (WD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by abnormal copper metabolism and accumulation in the liver and brain. While hepatic and neurological manifestations are well-recognized, psychiatric symptoms remain underdiagnosed and frequently precede other clinical signs, leading to delayed diagnosis and poorer outcomes. This opinion paper aims to explore the emerging understanding of psychiatric features in WD, particularly mood disturbances and their overlap with bipolar spectrum disorders, through a translational lens.

This study identified the optimal enzymatic treatment for improving the foaming characteristics of oat globulin, and alkaline protease was found to be the most effective enzyme. The impact of alkaline protease on the foaming properties and structural changes in oat globulin was explored. The results show that the foaming capacity of oat globulin hydrolysates is negatively correlated with surface hydrophobicity and positively correlated with the degree of hydrolysis.
