Time-activity data are traditionally collected by telephone interviews or through paper diaries, which are time consuming and costly. As a potential alternative that may greatly save staff time, a web survey to collect time-activity data was developed and tested in this study. We collected 24-h recall web diaries from 151 parents of young children mostly under 55 years of age (who also answered for their children) and 55 older adults (≥ 55 years of age) both on a weekday and a weekend day every 3 months during an 18-month period. The performance and reliability of the web surveys collected were evaluated, including the survey-completion rate, and the percentage of surveys with unreasonable time being reported as spent sleeping and with missing reports of being in transit between locations. We also compared the web-survey data with time-activity information we collected from the same subjects in telephone interviews and found that these data sources were fairly consistent with each other. However, we observed slightly more compliance issues for the web than the telephone survey, but most of these issues could be addressed and minimized by refining some questions or the survey interface. Our study suggests that it is critical to reduce participants' burden and improve survey interface design for optimal compliance and data quality. In conclusion, web surveys are a promising method to consider for time-activity data collection.

This meta-analysis integrates data from 14 studies (1979-2020), involving 364 horses across various management conditions (wild, natural-living, and stabled) to evaluate feeding, resting, standing, and locomotion behaviours. Fixed and random effects models, forest plots, and ANOVA were used to assess the influence of management system, sociality, sex, age, body size, and feeding type.

Functional Positron Emission Tomography (fPET) with (bolus plus) constant infusion of [F]-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), known as fPET-FDG, is a recently introduced technique in human neuroimaging, enabling the detection of dynamic glucose metabolism changes within a single scan. However, the statistical analysis of fPET-FDG data remains challenging because its signal and noise characteristics differ from both classic bolus-administration FDG PET and from functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), which together compose the primary sources of inspiration for analytical methods used by fPET-FDG researchers. In this study, we present an investigation of how inaccuracies in modeling baseline FDG uptake can introduce artifactual patterns to detrended time-activity curve (TAC) residuals, potentially introducing spurious (de)activations to general linear model (GLM) analyses.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of plasma perfusion combined with plasma exchange (PP + PE) artificial liver support system in patients with hepatitis B virus-associated acute-on-chronic liver failure with and without HIV infection (HBV-ACLF/HIV(+) and HBV-ACLF/HIV(-), respectively) and to assess the clinical value and safety of the artificial liver support system.
Methods: This study involved 162 patients diagnosed with HBV-ACLF and hospitalized at Chengdu Public Health Clinical Medical Center from January 2020 to January 2025, in accordance with the diagnostic criteria of the Chinese Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure (2025 edition). Seventeen patients with tumors, severe underlying diseases, or other hepatitis virus infections were excluded.

This study introduces GaitX, a real-time pedestrian behavior recognition system that leverages only the built-in sensors of a smartphone eliminating the need for external hardware. The system is capable of detecting abnormal walking behavior, such as using a smartphone while walking, regardless of whether the device is handheld or pocketed. GaitX applies multivariate time-series features derived from accelerometer data, using ensemble machine learning models like XGBoost and Random Forest for classification.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic utility of coagulation parameters-prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen (FIB), D-Dimer (D-D), prothrombin time activity (PTA), and international normalized ratio (INR) -in combination with inflammatory markers, including procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), systemic inflammation index (SII), and lymphocyte-C-reactive protein ratio (LCR), for stratifying sepsis severity.
Methods: This retrospective study included 123 patients diagnosed with sepsis and confirmed by positive blood cultures between October 2020 and October 2024. A control group comprising 50 healthy individuals undergoing routine physical examinations was also included.
