Aging-related bone loss still lacks interventions. As bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) undergo aging, R-loop-induced DNA replication stress impairs the osteogenic ability of BMSCs. High-mobility group A-2 (Hmga2) acts as a DNA-binding protein, and the understanding of its underlying mechanisms is crucial for developing effective preventive and therapeutic strategies.

We present here a methodology for real-time analysis of diffraction images acquired at a high frame rate (925 Hz) and its application to macromolecular serial crystallography at ESRF. We introduce a new signal-separation algorithm, able to distinguish the amorphous (or powder diffraction) component from the diffraction signal originating from single crystals. It relies on the ability to work efficiently in azimuthal space and is implemented in , the fast azimuthal integration library.

Developing catalysts with both useful enantioselectivities and million turnover numbers (TONs) for asymmetric hydrogenation of ketones is attractive for industrial production of high-value bioactive chiral entities but remains a challenging. Herein, we report an ultra-efficient anionic Ir-catalyst integrated with the concept of multidentate ligation for asymmetric hydrogenation of ketones. Biocatalysis-like efficacy of up to 99% ee (enantiomeric excess), 13,425,000 TON (turnover number) and 224 s TOF (turnover frequency) were documented for benchmark acetophenone.

The state-of-the-art SARS-CoV-2 detection methods include qRT-PCR and antibody-based lateral flow assay (LFA) point-of-care tests. Despite the high sensitivity and selectivity, qRT-PCR is slow, expensive and needs well-trained operators. On the other extreme, LFA suffers from low sensitivity albeit its fast detection speed, low detection cost and ease of use.
