Objective: To investigate whether the presence of HBV mutant in vaccinees simply reflects the prevalence of HBV mutant in a specific geographic area or is indeed due to the immune pressure induced by vaccination.
Methods: HBV S genes were amplified by using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequence analysis of the "a" determinant was performed on sera from 30 childhood patients with immunoprophylaxis and 30 patients without vaccinations.
Results: Mutations of the "a" determinant were detected in 8 of the 60 patients. They were all of the adw subtype. The prevalence of amino acid substitutions as detected by direct sequencing was higher in those fully-vaccinated than of those not vaccinated. In all 8 vaccinated and also with detectable mutants, the mean age was older than the other vaccinated children.
Conclusion: The prevalence of mutants is related to HBV subtypes and genotypes. Universal vaccination has accelerated an accumulation of HBsAg "a" determinant mutants with amino acid changes critical for immune escape in vaccinated children who became carriers. This suggests that new vaccination strategies should be considered.

The gas-phase structures of dibenzo-24-crown-8 (DB24C8) and dinaphtho-24-crown-8 (DN24C8) complexes with divalent metal ions (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Fe, Ni, and Zn) were investigated by cryogenic ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) in combination with density functional theory calculations. Several complexes, particularly those of DN24C8, exhibited multiple coexisting conformers. DFT-optimized structures were classified based on the relative orientation of the two aromatic rings in the crown ether.

Based on a theoretical analysis of systems composed of subsystems described using a coupled cluster parametrization, we developed a vibrational coupled cluster embedding theory specifically tailored for the computation of response properties. This work identifies several strategies for calculating excitation energies, transition probabilities, and other response functions in large systems of interacting subsystems. A particularly effective embedding approach was formulated around a Lagrangian with multilinear interaction terms, yielding a structure that is nonlinear in both coupled cluster amplitudes and multipliers.

Methods: The observation group consisted of 69 cases of hydatid liver patients undergoing elective combined segmenectomy, and the control group consisted of 69 healthy subjects. The correlation analysis of TEG, six coagulation items and PLT in the preoperative observation group and control group was conducted.

On-site accurate and real-time monitoring of trace chemical warfare agents is a critical component of national security surveillance. In this study, a photoionization-induced chemical ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry is developed for the detection of trace gaseous chemical warfare agents under ambient conditions. Firstly, a benzene-toluene-xylene mixture standard gas is utilized to optimize the instrument parameters, followed by screening of dopants for chemical warfare agents detection, with methanol ultimately identified as the optimal dopant.
