Article Abstract

[reaction: see text] The successful application of CH2Cl2-Mg-TiCl4-system mediated methylenation of various esters such as tert-butyl ester and 2,5-cyclohexadiene-1-carboxylate highlights the extraordinary reactivity, selectivity, and the nonbasic nature of this new methylene-carbenoid, which serves as a practical reagent applicable to large-scale synthesis.

We report the synthesis and reactivity of phenylpyridine-based boron azides readily accessible via nucleophilic substitution from generated borenium-type precursors. Three azides were obtained: a hydridic species (L)BHN (L = 2-phenylpyridine), a cyclopentyl-substituted analogue (L)B(cyclopentyl)N, and a boron diazide (L)B(N) obtained as a byproduct from the synthesis of (L)BHN. The prepared borane azides exhibit notable thermal and photochemical robustness, with decomposition temperatures around 140 °C in mesitylene solution and above 170 °C in the solid state, as evidenced by DSC/TGA analysis.

Background: Propanil toxicity is characterised by severe prolonged methaemoglobinaemia, cyanosis, acidosis, and progressive end-organ dysfunction. studies report propanil-induced kidney toxicity, which has not been studied clinically. This study determined the incidence of acute kidney injury and of methaemoglobinaemia after propanil self-poisoning and reported the diagnostic performance of novel and traditional biomarkers of acute kidney injury.

The waters around the western Antarctic Peninsula are experiencing fast warming due to global change, being among the most affected regions on the planet. This polar area is home to a large and rich community of benthic marine invertebrates, such as sponges, tunicates, corals, and many other animals. Among the sponges, the bright yellow is commonly known for using secondary diterpenoids as a defensive mechanism against local potential predators.

Here, we report the design, synthesis, and comprehensive characterization of the bis-cholesterol supramolecular gelator, which contains photochromic stiff-stilbene as a bridging unit. The -isomer of stiff-stilbene bridged bis-cholesterol (-) was first synthesized with a systematic design, which can be further converted into its -isomer (-) with a high degree of efficiency (ca. 100%) upon exposure to 385 nm UV light.

Background: The Maillard reaction involves the interaction of various amino acids and reducing sugars, resulting in food browning. It often produces appealing aromas and flavors. The complexities of the reaction are such that it can be challenging to identify the often numerous and frequently volatile products formed by it.
