An Ag-functionalized structural color hydrogel (Ag-SCH) sensor is constructed for colorimetric detection of glutathione (GSH). The hydrogel is prepared by using the coordination of Ag and 1-vinylimidazole (1-VI) as cross-linking network. GSH acts as a competitive ligand to break the coordination between Ag and 1-VI, leading to the expansion and structural color change of the hydrogel.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) frequently invades the portal vein, leading to early recurrence and a poor prognosis. However, the mechanisms underlying this invasion remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to detect portal vein circulating tumor cells (CTCs) using a Glypican-3-positive detection method and evaluate their prognostic significance.

Natural polyreactive antibodies achieve enhanced avidity through heterogeneous ligand binding. However, engineering synthetic heteroligation systems with precise control over recognition motif orientation and distance remains challenging. Here, a DNA framework-based strategy is presented to program heterotypic binding by spatially organizing bivalent aptamers targeting platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB).

Organ initiation is often driven by extracellular signaling molecules that activate precursor cells competent to receive and respond to a given signal, yet little is known about the dynamics of competency in space and time during development. Teeth are excellent organs to study cellular competency because they can be activated with the addition of a single signaling ligand, Ectodysplasin (Eda). To investigate the role of Eda in tooth specification, we generated transgenic sticklebacks and zebrafish with heat shock-inducible Eda overexpression.

CDK7 has emerged as a cancer target because of its pivotal roles in cell cycle progression and transcription. Several CDK7 inhibitors (CDK7i) are now in clinical evaluation. Identifying patients most likely to respond to treatment and early detection of tumour evolution towards resistance are necessary for optimal implementation of cancer therapies.
