Amylose content (AC) is a key determinant of wheat quality, and the TaWaxy gene determined amylose synthesis with a dose-dependent effect on AC. In this study, the TaWOX5 gene, which significantly enhances wheat transformation efficiency, was combined with CRISPR/SpCas9 system to generate TaWaxy mutants in a commercial winter wheat Jimai 22. Seven transgene-free mutant types were produced, compared to only three transgene-free mutants in the spring wheat variety Ningchun 4.

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of Cornus officinalis iridoid glycosides (CIG) on rats with chronic renal failure (CRF).

Methods: CRF was induced in adult male Sprague Dawley rats by nephrectomy. The rats were randomly divided into six groups: sham, sham+high-dose CIG (120 mg/kg/d for 14 days), CRF, CRF+low-dose CIG (60 mg/kg/d for 14 days), CRF+high-dose CIG, and CRF+high-dose CIG+ML385 (an inhibitor of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), single administration at 30 mg/kg).

The characterization and fine mapping of genes associated with powdery mildew resistance can benefit marker-assisted breeding. The present study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of Yishen Jiangzhuo decoction (YSJZD) in a mouse model of cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). The mice were divided into the NC, cisplatin and cisplatin + YSJZD groups. A concentration-dependent effect of YSJZD on cisplatin-induced AKI was observed and the optimal concentration for intervention was calculated.

In the present work, the effects of aging treatment on the microstructures of a TC18 alloy are studied. The influence of aging treatment on the tensile properties and failure mechanisms is systematically analyzed. It is found that the size and morphology of the primary α (α) phases are insensitive to aging temperature and time.

Two wheat-Ae. longissima translocation chromosomes (1BS·1SL and 1SS·1BL) were transferred into three commercial wheat varieties, and the new advanced lines showed improved bread-making quality compared to their recurrent parents. Aegilops longissima chromosome 1S encodes specific types of gluten subunits that may positively affect wheat bread-making quality.
