This study aims to assess clinical variability among patients with ABI across six tertiary NCC units (NCCUs) in South Korea and evaluate center-specific effects on clinical outcomes.
Methods: A multicenter registry of patients with ABI admitted to NCCUs between April 2023 and April 2024 was analyzed.
Background: As populations age, there is an increasing need to optimize endovascular treatment (EVT) and to understand country-specific differences in East Asia. We harmonized stroke registries from Korea and Taiwan to enable comparisons of patient characteristics and outcomes, with a particular focus on the impact of age.
Methods: Multicenter prospective stroke registries in Korea (CRCS-K [Clinical Research Collaboration for Stroke in Korea]) and Taiwan (TREAT-AIS [Taiwan Registry of Endovascular Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke]) were harmonized to form a unified data set of patients undergoing EVT.
2D halide perovskite ferroelectrics have garnered significant attention due to their potential applications and intriguing fundamental properties. However, their temperature-dependent ferroelectric behaviors, particularly at the nanoscale, remain poorly understood. In this study, the nanoscale ferroelectric domain evolution with temperature and ferroelectric-to-paraelectric phase transition in (BA)(MA)PbBr films are investigated using piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM).

The Berry curvature in a Dirac cone causes anomalous transport phenomena, including anomalous Hall, anomalous Nernst, and Valley Hall effects. Detecting the Berry curvature in a 2D transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) layer requires breaking time-reversal symmetry to create a population imbalance between the K and K valleys. Direct observation and control of valley polarization in a 2D TMD layer remain challenging, especially for practical applications.

Background: The revised 2023 guidelines from the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) emphasize salvage methods for treating refractory catheter-related infections, or mechanical catheter damage. This approach preserves the existing catheter by manipulating only the outer cuff above the peritoneum, avoiding hemodialysis transfer. We investigated the effectiveness of the partial replantation technique.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites are potential materials for room-temperature polaritonics owing to their high exciton oscillator strengths and large exciton binding energies. Herein, we report on strong exciton-photon coupling in the micro-platelet and micro-ribbon shaped methylammonium lead bromide single crystals.

Background: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells have demonstrated significant efficacy in targeting hematological malignancies, and their use continues to expand. Despite substantial efforts spent on the optimization of protocols for CAR T-cell manufacturing, critical parameters of cell culture such as pH or oxygenation are rarely actively monitored during cGMP CAR T-cell generation. A comprehensive understanding of the role that these factors play in manufacturing may help in optimizing patient-specific CAR T-cell therapy with maximum benefits and minimal toxicity.

Background And Purpose: Multiple attempts at intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) detection using deep-learning techniques have been plagued by clinical failures. We aimed to compare the performance of a deep-learning algorithm for ICH detection trained on strongly and weakly annotated datasets, and to assess whether a weighted ensemble model that integrates separate models trained using datasets with different ICH improves performance.
Methods: We used brain CT scans from the Radiological Society of North America (27,861 CT scans, 3,528 ICHs) and AI-Hub (53,045 CT scans, 7,013 ICHs) for training.
Background Aims: Accurate assessment of cell viability is crucial in cellular product manufacturing, yet selecting the appropriate viability assay presents challenges due to various factors. This study compares and evaluates different viability assays on fresh and cryopreserved cellular products, including peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) and peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) apheresis products, purified PBMCs and cultured chimeric antigen receptor and T-cell receptor-engineered T-cell products.
Methods: Viability assays, including manual Trypan Blue exclusion, flow cytometry-based assays using 7-aminoactinomycin D (7-AAD) or propidium iodide (PI) direct staining or cell surface marker staining in conjunction with 7-AAD, Cellometer (Nexcelom Bioscience LLC, Lawrence, MA, USA) Acridine Orange/PI staining and Vi-CELL BLU Cell Viability Analyzer (Beckman Coulter, Inc, Brea, CA, USA), were evaluated.
Importance: Despite the effectiveness of existing anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapies, a need remains for further treatment options to improve response rates and/or reduce injection or monitoring frequency in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME).
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of brolucizumab vs aflibercept dosed every 4 weeks in participants with DME.
Design, Participants, And Setting: This 52-week, double-masked, phase 3 randomized clinical trial included treatment-naive adults and adults who had previously received anti-VEGF therapy.
