Background: The underlying biological mechanisms for neurological symptoms following a traumatic brain injury (TBI) remain poorly understood. This study investigated the associations between serum inflammatory biomarkers and neurological symptoms in the chronic phase following moderate to severe TBI.

Hippocampal neurogenesis declines with aging. Wnt ligands and antagonists within the hippocampal neurogenic niche regulate the proliferation of neural progenitor cells and the development of new neurons, and the changes of their levels in the niche mediate aging-associated decline of neurogenesis. We found that RNA-binding protein LIN28A remained existent in neural progenitor cells and granule neurons in the adult hippocampus and that it decreased with aging.

Metabolic reprogramming, as a key hallmark of cancers, leads to the malignant behavior of pancreatic cancer, which is closely related to tumor development and progression, as well as the supportive tumor microenvironments. Although cells produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP) from glucose by glycolysis when lacking oxygen, pancreatic cancer cells elicit metabolic conversion from oxide phosphorylation to glycolysis, which is well-known as "Warburg effect". Glycolysis is critical for cancer cells to maintain their robust biosynthesis and energy requirement, and it could promote tumor initiation, invasion, angiogenesis, and metastasis to distant organs.

The high carrier mobility, appropriate band gap and good environmental stability of two-dimensional (2D) MoSiN enable it to be an appropriate channel material for transistors with excellent performance. Therefore, we predict the performance of double-gate (DG) metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) based on monolayer (ML) MoSiN by quantum-transport calculations. The results show that the on-state current of the p-type device is remarkable when the gate length is greater than 4 nm, which can meet the high performance requirements of the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS), 2013 version.

Population aging is causing a demographic redistribution with implications for the future of healthcare. How will this affect oncology? The plant growth, development, and secondary metabolism are regulated by R2 R3-MYB transcription factors. This study identified the R2 R3-MYB genes in the genome of Andrographis paniculata and analyzed the chromosomal localization, gene structure, and conserved domains, phylogenetic relationship, and promoter cis-acting elements of these R2 R3-MYB genes. Methods: Seventy-eight cone-beam computed tomography scans were classified into 3 groups according to the sagittal pattern and menton deviation: asymmetrical Class III (n = 26), symmetrical Class III (n = 26), and symmetrical Class I (n = 26).
