Synthesis, characterization, and photophysical properties of europium complex-functionalized fumed silica and its corresponding PMMA-doped composites.

Lanthanide organic-inorganic hybrid fluorescent materials are considered as promising candidates for next-generation lighting materials due to their unique optical properties and potential applications. In this work, commercialized silica materials (fumed silica) were selected as the carrier. By means of the bridging function of silane coupling agents, Eu(TTA)(Phen) was covalently grafted onto the surface of fumed silica to synthesize lanthanide hybrid phosphors.

Clinical Features and Risk Factors for Early Bone Destruction in Enthesitis-Related Arthritis: A Cohort Study.

Objectives: To explore the clinical characteristics and identify risk factors for early bone destruction in children with enthesitis-related arthritis (ERA).

Methods: Clinical characteristics were retrospectively analyzed in 85 newly diagnosed cases with ERA at our hospital from January 2019 to December 2021. Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors for early bone destruction.

Subarachnoid puncture via the anterior fontanelle with intrathecal vancomycin for refractory purulent meningitis: a pediatric case report.

This case report presents a novel treatment approach for refractory purulent meningitis in a 1-month-old infant caused by penicillin-sensitive group B Streptococcus. Despite initial treatment with intravenous antibiotics, including penicillin and vancomycin, the infant experienced persistent symptoms and bilateral subdural effusions. Conventional therapies failed to resolve these issues, leading to the use of a new technique: subarachnoid puncture via the anterior fontanelle combined with intrathecal vancomycin administration.

Impact of T-2 toxin on intestinal inflammation and transcriptional regulation of inflammatory response in mouse macrophages.

T-2 toxin, a fungal secondary metabolite produced by toxigenic species, poses a significant threat to grain food and feed due to its potential to cause intestinal inflammation in livestock and poultry. Macrophages play a crucial role as integral components of the body's immune system during intestinal inflammation. This study aimed to elucidate the mechanism behind the inflammatory response triggered by T-2 toxin in macrophages.

Case report: Aggressive progression of acute heart failure due to juvenile tuberculosis-associated Takayasu arteritis with aortic stenosis and thrombosis.

Background: Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a chronic granulomatous vasculitis with unknown pathophysiology. TA with severe aortic obstruction has a poor prognosis. However, the efficacy of biologics and appropriate timing of surgical intervention remain controversial.

Case Report: Macrophage Activation Syndrome and Widespread Neuroimaging Abnormality in Childhood-Onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) and widespread brain lesions are rare and severe complications of childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We report an 11-year-old girl who presented with recurrent rashes for half a year and fever for 2 weeks. Clinical and laboratory features at admission pointed to the diagnosis of SLE and SLE-associated MAS.

Juvenile-onset multifocal osteonecrosis in systemic lupus erythematosus: A case report.

Rationale: Osteonecrosis (ON) is a devastating illness that leads to bone ischemia and potential joint destruction. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, autoimmune disease, with multi-system involvement which is closely associated with occurrence of ON. Multifocal ON, with an estimated morbidity of 3% in SLE patients, is extremely rare in juvenile subjects.

Acute Flaccid Myelitis in Children in Zhejiang Province, China.

In July-December 2018, an outbreak of polio-like acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) occurred in Zhejiang province, China. Enterovirus (EV)-D68 infection has been reported to be associated with AFM. This study aimed to investigate the clinical presentation, laboratory findings, and outcomes of AFM patients.

Phalangeal microgeodic syndrome in childhood.

Background: Phalangeal microgeodic syndrome is an uncommon benign self-limiting condition that often occurs during cold weather. The etiology and the pathogenesis of the disease remain unclear.

Objective: To report a series of children with phalangeal microgeodic syndrome.

Imaging findings of pancreatoblastoma in 4 children including a case of ectopic pancreatoblastoma.

Background: Pancreatoblastoma is a rare primary pancreatic neoplasm of children. The tumour may arise from any portion of the pancreas, but no tumour originating from ectopic pancreatic tissue has been reported in the English medical literature.

Objective: We report the radiological findings of pancreatoblastoma in four children, including one tumour originating from the mesentery, to our knowledge, reported for the first time.

Endodermal sinus tumour of the omentum in a child.

Endodermal sinus tumour usually arises in a gonad; extragonadal endodermal sinus tumours are rare. We report a 3-year-old boy with an endodermal sinus tumour arising in the greater omentum, which may be the second reported case in the English literature. He presented with a solid mass in the upper abdomen and a markedly raised serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level.

[Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide for fluorescence enhancement of anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride and iso-tetracycline].

Fluorescence enhancement of anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride and iso-tetracycline has been described. The fluorescence intensities of anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride and iso-tetracycline with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) enhanced by micellar solution have been examined. It is found that fluorescence enhancement of anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride and iso-tetracycline depends on the concentration of CTMAB and pH of the solution.
