The electrochemical nitrate-to-ammonia conversion (NORR) offers a sustainable route for nitrogen utilization, yet its efficiency is limited by poor nitrate adsorption and sluggish reaction kinetics. Here, a mesoporous FeO electrocatalyst (meso-FeO) with dual geometric and electronic optimization is presented for enhanced NORR performance. Through an in situ electrochemical preactivation strategy (-1.

Propanamide is a crucial synthetic intermediate in pharmaceuticals for the preparation of antibacterial and anticancer drugs. Conventional synthesis of propanamide involves the reaction of carboxylic acid derivatives with amines, which requires harsh reaction conditions, leading to an unfavorable environmental footprint. Here, we present a cathode-anode synergistic electrochemical strategy to transform nitrate and n-propanol into propanamide under ambient conditions, where both the cathode catalyst CoO/SiC and the anode catalyst Ti contribute distinctively to the electrochemical process.

Developing stable cathodes with high capacity and rapid redox kinetics is pivotal for aqueous zinc-organic batteries (ZOBs). A huge challenge lies in balancing the density of active sites and electronic conductivity of organic cathodes. Herein, an azo polymer from 4,5,9,10-pyrene-tetraone (PTAP) possessing high active components and extended conjugated structure was achieved.

Metabolic syndrome is a low-grade inflammatory state in which oxidative stress is involved. Naringin, isolated from the Citrussinensis, is a phenolic compound with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of naringin on metabolic syndrome in mice.

An economical method for the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass is to use plants as bioreactors for cellulases production. Two bacterial thermostable cellulases (E2 and E3) and a E3-E2 fusion form were expressed in tobacco, driven by a double 35S promoter and 5' TEV-UTL. The enzymes were targeted to the apoplast and cytosol via 5' signal peptides and 3' retention signal peptides, respectively, and all showed functional activities.

The aim of the present study was to assess the ototoxicity of kanamycin sulfate (KM) in adult rats and its underlying mechanism. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats (6-7 weeks old) were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. The animals in the experimental group were injected subcutaneously with KM (500 mg/kg per day) for two weeks, and the control group received equal volume of normal saline.
