Background: Suboptimal diet results in significant health and economic burdens. However, the global economic costs of dietary risks remain unclear.

Objectives: This study aimed to estimate the macroeconomic burden of 15 dietary risk factors in 204 countries and territories from 2020 to 2050.

In this study, we investigated the destructive effect of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) masonry walls subjected to close-in explosions. First, full-size refined finite-element models of the AAC masonry wall were established, and the accuracy of the models was verified by comparison with the test results. The destruction pattern and damage characteristics of the AAC wall were studied, and the effects of block size, wall thickness, mortar compressive strength, and explosion distance on the destruction degree of the AAC masonry walls were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • - Lutein, zeaxanthin, and β-cryptoxanthin are carotenoids commonly found in over 95% of the U.S. population, and they are linked to reduced coronary heart disease risks.
  • - A study analyzing data from 1,302 middle-aged and older men found that higher levels of serum lutein/zeaxanthin were negatively correlated with erectile dysfunction (ED), while β-cryptoxanthin showed a U-shaped relationship with ED.
  • - The results suggest that maintaining balanced levels of these carotenoids could help manage ED, especially among men with diabetes or cardiovascular issues, but further studies are needed to understand the underlying biological mechanisms.

The susceptibility of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs to punching shear failure is heightened when subjected to close-in explosion loads, leading to a wider range of damage caused by the resultant leakage shock wave through the punching hole. Consequently, it is crucial to analyze the conditions for punching shear failure and the size of the punching hole in RC slabs. This study investigates the punching shear failure of RC slabs under close-in explosions through numerical simulation and theoretical analysis.

Pulverized coal is widely distributed in coal mine roadways, which can enhance the power of a gas explosion. Explosion suppression technology can effectively reduce the explosion power. At present, rock powder shed, a water bag, and ABC powder are widely used in most coal mine explosion suppression technologies.

Self-assembled colloidal crystals (CCs) or nanoparticle (NPs) superlattices have attracted significant attention due to their potential applications in many fields. However, due to the complex interactions that govern the self-assembly, it is difficult to predict and control the superstructure organization of CCs. Herein, a facile yet effective way is demonstrated to fabricate oriented CCs from capillary assembly of polymer-tethered gold NPs (AuNPs).

Pyrotinib (PYR) is a pan-HER kinase inhibitor that inhibits signaling the RAS/RAF/MEK/MAPK and PI3K/AKT pathways. In this study, we aimed to investigate the antitumor efficacy of pyrotinib combined with adriamycin (ADM) and explore its mechanisms on HER2 breast cancer. We investigated the effects of PYR and ADM on breast cancer and .

Background: To investigate the pathologic complete response (pCR) rates of dual human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) blockade in a neoadjuvant setting for HER2+ breast cancer.

Methods: We searched randomized clinical trials (RCTs) using dual HER2 blockade in a neoadjuvant setting for HER2+ breast cancer in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase and ClinicalTrials.gov up to July 5, 2020, and all included studies were assessed according to the Cochrane Collaboration tool for assessing the risk of bias of RCTs, and the statistical analyses were performed using STATA 14.

Object: Ovarian cancer is the primary cause of cancer-associated deaths among gynaecological malignancies. Increasing evidence suggests that microRNAs may be potential biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer. In this study, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the global research and to evaluate the overall diagnostic accuracy of miRNAs in detecting ovarian cancer.

Increased expression of CCL18 has been observed in various malignancies and in the urine samples of patients with bladder cancer (BC). However, the roles of CCL18 in the development, progression and metastasis of BC remain unclear. The present study demonstrated that CCL18 expression was significantly associated with advanced clinical stages of BC.
