Background And Aims: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an autoimmune liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis. However, reliable non-invasive tools for early cirrhosis risk stratification are still lacking. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) in combination with the conventional liver fibrosis markers-aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index(APRI), fibrosis-4 index(FIB-4), hyaluronic acid (HA), procollagen III N-terminal propeptide (PIIINP), collagen type IV (CIV), and laminin (LN) in PBC-associated cirrhosis.

In previous studies, we developed a novel fusion protein named "melittin-MIL-2" which exhibited more anti-tumor activity. However, it remains unclear whether melittin-MIL-2 possesses antitumor immune effect on lung adenocarcinoma. In this study, the immune effect and mechanism of melittin-MIL-2 inhibiting the growth and invasion of lung adenocarcinoma will be investigated, in order to provide novel perspectives for the immunotherapy of lung cancer.

Background: The intricate etiology of autoimmune liver disease (AILD) involves genetic, environmental, and other factors that yet to be completely elucidated. This study comprehensively assessed the causal association between genetically predicted modifiable risk factors and AILD by employing Mendelian randomization.

Methods: Genetic variants associated with 29 exposure factors were obtained from genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

Article Synopsis
  • Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic autoimmune liver disease characterized by specific autoantibodies, and this study assessed the clinical significance of AMA-M2, anti-gp210, and anti-sp100 antibody levels in diagnosing PBC.
  • The research involved analyzing blood samples from 238 PBC patients and comparing their antibody levels with those from patients with other autoimmune diseases and healthy controls, finding significantly higher levels of these antibodies in PBC patients.
  • The study highlighted that combining the detection of all three antibodies offers greater sensitivity for diagnosis and indicates that high anti-gp210 antibody levels are associated with worse liver function and severe cholestasis in PBC patients.

Over the past half century, psoriasis is considered as an immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease with the combined hallmarks of autoimmunity and autoinflammation, according to growing volumes of clinical and experimental findings. There is currently no cure for psoriasis, current treatment strategies focus on symptom control, disease minimization, and patient's quality of life enhancement. To meet these challenges, it keeps imperative to discover potential biomarkers, so that not only can they be used for the prediction and monitoring of psoriasis disease in clinic, but also can provide novel therapeutic targets or treatment strategies for psoriasis sufferers.

The rejoining of oracle bone rubbings is a fundamental topic in oracle bone inscriptions (OBIs) research. However, the traditional oracle bone (OB) rejoining methods are not only time-consuming and laborious but difficult to apply to large-scale OB rejoining. We proposed a simple OB rejoining model (SFF-Siam) to handle this challenge.

Ancient character recognition is not only important for the study and understanding of ancient history but also has a profound impact on the inheritance and development of national culture. In order to reduce the study of difficult professional knowledge of ancient characters, and meanwhile overcome the lack of data, class imbalance, diversification of glyphs, and open set recognition problems in ancient characters, we propose a Siamese similarity network based on a similarity learning method to directly learn input similarity and then apply the trained model to establish one shot classification task for recognition. Multi-scale fusion backbone structure and embedded structure are proposed in the network to improve the model's ability to extract features.
