However, traditional awake nasolaryngoscopy is often limited by infant crying and brief examinations. A more detailed drug-induced sleep endoscopy requires anesthesia and operating room resources.

Objectives: To develop, describe, and validate a novel hybrid training model for endoscopic septoplasty that combines pig ears with a 3D-printed model.

Methods: The pig ear was chosen for its similarity to the human septum and wide availability. A frame for the nasal septum substitute was designed to mimic the appearance of a human nose, securely anchor the septum, and create a bend to simulate a deviated septum.

Article Synopsis
  • This umbrella review examines how size at birth (birth weight and gestation) impacts the health, growth, and development of children and adolescents up to 18 years old, synthesizing evidence from systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • The review screened over 16,000 articles and found 302 relevant systematic reviews, highlighting that small size at birth was linked to many negative outcomes, whereas large size had fewer established associations.
  • The authors suggest that future research should address gaps in understanding large birth size effects, explore outcomes that lack comprehensive reviews, and focus on underrepresented populations to better analyze developmental consequences.

Purpose: To review the literature on health research collaborations by academic entities and to identify the main phases, components, and concepts of these research collaborations.

They excluded non-health-related studies and studies in which collaboration was not for the purpose of research.
