The yellowfin seabream (), a commercially important marine fish in Vietnam, faces threats from overfishing and habitat degradation and requires a deeper understanding of its genetic structure and evolutionary history for effective conservation. This study investigated the genetic diversity, population structure and demographic history of across three populations in Central Vietnam using mitochondrial control region (mtCR) sequences and multivariate analyses. A total of 125 fish samples were collected between January 2023 and June 2024, with DNA extracted from pectoral fin tissues and amplified for mtCR sequencing.

Mucormycosis is a rare, life-threatening opportunistic fungal infection with high mortality rates that primarily affects immunocompromised patients. The co-occurrence of dengue fever and mucormycosis is extremely rare, with only a few cases reported worldwide. We report a case of a 50-year-old female diagnosed with mucormycos following dengue fever.

In this study, the anti-osteogenic properties of the volatile oil extracted from Homalomena gigantea rhizome using ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and methanol (MeOH) were examined. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was employed for the identification of volatile components. Following this, bioassays were performed to evaluate their effects on osteogenesis, encompassing parameters like cell viability, osteoblast differentiation, collagen synthesis and mineralization.

Background: Orcinol-β-D-glucoside, which is also known as orcinol glucoside, is a major phenolic glucoside compound in the rhizome of the Gaertn. This compound has many medicinal properties such as being antioxidant, immunomodulatory, antiosteoporosis, stress relief, antidepressant, etc.

Methods: Determination of reducing sugar content by Bertrand's method, determination of lipid content by Soxhlet method, determination of vitamin C content by iodine titration, determination of enzyme activity catalase by titration with KMnO4.

Background: The pathogenesis of dengue shock syndrome (DSS, grade 3 and 4) is not yet completely understood. Several factors are reportedly associated with DSS, a more severe form of dengue infection that reportedly causes 50 times higher mortality compared to that of dengue patients without DSS. However, the results from these reports remain inconclusive.

It was recently shown that a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), that we named the 91H RNA (i.e. antisense H19 transcript), is overexpressed in human breast tumours and contributes in trans to the expression of the Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) gene on the paternal chromosome.
