To review musculoskeletal disabilities and rehabilitation in adults with thalidomide embryopathy (TE), the authors reviewed the literature related to musculoskeletal disability, quality of life (QOL) and rehabilitation intervention in adults with TE, obtained through a PubMed search, and their experience in clinical practice with Japanese individuals. Through literature search, 25 studies were included for this review. Literature search results and the authors' experiences revealed that, in adults with TE, upper limb disabilities included neuropathy, mainly due to carpal tunnel syndrome; finger pain due to tenosynovitis; and symptoms caused by osteoarthritis, mainly in the shoulders.

Current methods of processing accumulated polyolefin waste typically require harsh conditions, precious metals or high metal loadings to achieve appreciable activities. Here we examined supported, single-site organonickel catalysts for polyolefin upcycling. Chemisorption of Ni(COD) (COD, 1,5-cyclooctadiene) onto Brønsted acidic sulfated alumina (AlS) yields a highly electrophilic Ni(I) precatalyst, AlS/Ni(COD), which is converted under H to the active AlS/NiH catalyst.

Background: With improved survival after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), late complications including venous thromboembolism (VTE) have gained clinical importance. However, the incidence and predictive models for late-onset VTE after allo-HSCT are poorly defined, with limited data on subsequent treatment and outcomes.

Objective: To describe the clinical features and outcomes of late-onset VTE and establish a risk prediction model for Japanese patients.

We report three cases of ponatinib/blinatumomab (Pona/BLIN) combination therapy as a bridge to allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) in patients with relapsed/refractory Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (r/r-Ph + ALL) or lymphoid chronic myeloid leukemia blast crisis (CML-BC). Case 1: A 60-year-old man with Ph + ALL achieved molecular complete remission (mCR) with Pona/BLIN after relapse following initial dasatinib-based treatment and subsequently underwent allo-HCT. Case 2: A 39-year-old man with Ph + ALL achieved hematological CR (hCR) with one cycle of inotuzumab ozogamicin and mCR with Pona/BLIN after post-transplant relapse but developed extramedullary relapse with -negative clone and underwent a second allo-HCT in non-remission.

Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique for materials characterization, yet its application to air- and moisture-sensitive materials is often hindered by the difficulty in maintaining an inert environment during magic-angle spinning (MAS). This is particularly true for fast-MAS rotors that do not generally provide tight seals. Herein, we present a generalizable approach employing perdeuterated paraffin waxes-n-icosane-d42 and c-dodecane-d24-as protective embedding media to analyze sensitive organometallic catalysts using SSNMR.

Vinculin and c-Cbl-associated protein (CAP) mediate the regulation of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) differentiation depending on the stiffness of the extracellular matrix (ECM); however, the molecular mechanism downstream of vinculin-CAP is not fully elucidated. Here, we demonstrated that vinculin and CAP suppress Meflin expression, a factor crucial for maintaining MSCs in an undifferentiated state. Depletion of vinculin and CAP increases Meflin expression, particularly on rigid ECM substrates.

Rotavirus infections remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in infants. The viral surface proteins VP4 and VP7 are each classified into multiple genotypes (P[1]-P[58] for VP4 and G1-G42 for VP7), which differ in their susceptibility to neutralizing antibodies; however, detailed analyses of these differences remain limited. This study investigates the susceptibility of diverse VP4 and VP7 genotypes to neutralizing antibodies induced by vaccination or natural infection.

Aerosol-OT (AOT) is a very versatile surfactant that exhibits a plethora of self-assembly behaviors. In particular, due to its double-tail structure, it is capable of forming vesicles in water. However, the size of these structures, and the time scales over which they form, make them difficult to study using traditional all-atomistic molecular dynamics simulations.

Background: The final manufactured tisagenlecleucel product should meet the commercial product release specifications to ensure the quality in terms of safety, purity, identity, and potency. However, it may occasionally fail to meet these specifications due to the nature of patient-derived cells with variable properties as starting material and the complex manufacturing process. The final product that does not meet at least one of the commercial release specifications is referred to as "out-of-specification" (OOS).

Real-world data on blinatumomab (BLI) and inotuzumab ozogamicin (INO) for relapsed or refractory B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (RR-ALL) before hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) are limited. To compare the efficacy of salvage therapy with BLI and/or INO and conventional chemotherapy as a bridge to HCT, we retrospectively evaluated patients with RR-ALL who underwent first HCT at our institute between 2004 and 2023. Based on whether they had received salvage therapy with BLI and/or INO, 70 recipients were divided into a BLI/INO (n = 22) and a control group (n = 48).

: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) can potentially cure hematological malignancies; however, post-transplant patients have a high risk of infection owing to their immunocompromised status. Vaccination against pathogens, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and polio, is essential post-transplantation, but neither the long-term efficacy of vaccines nor the optimal vaccination schedule has been fully established. : In this prospective observational study, we assessed the short- and long-term immunogenicity of three doses of the diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, and inactivated poliovirus (DTaP-IPV) vaccines or DTaP vaccines in 29 adult allogeneic HSCT (allo-HSCT) recipients, with antibody levels measured at baseline, 1-3 months post-vaccination, and 1-year after vaccine completion.

AlMe-treatment of the borylation precatalyst La(BH)(THF)-PhSi-HY affords La(BH)(AlMe)-PhSi-HY, which is the superior lanthanum-based precatalyst for benzene borylation with pinacolborane (HBpin), giving higher turnovers (>285) and improved yields (up to 42%) of phenylpinacolborane (PhBpin). Solid-state NMR spectroscopy, X-ray adsorption spectroscopy, and theoretical studies characterized the precatalytic sites in La(BH)(AlMe)-PhSi-HY as κ-,-{≡SiO(=Al)≡SiO}La(BH)(AlMe), revealing that AlMe had displaced the THF ligands. In contrast to the expected high reactivity of THF-free organolanthanum, the turnover frequency (TOF) for PhBpin formation catalyzed by La(BH)(AlMe)-PhSi-HY (2.

The Colorado tick fever virus (CTFV), which has 12-segmented double-stranded RNA genomes, is a pathogenic arbovirus that causes severe diseases in humans. However, little progress has been made in the analysis of replication mechanisms and pathogenicity. This virological constraint is due to the absence of a reverse genetics system for CTFV; therefore, we aimed to establish the system.
