Cardiovascular and renal comorbidities among saudi patients with type 2 diabetes: A cross-sectional observational study.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the prevalence and patterns of cardiovascular and renal complications among patients with T2DM in the Saudi population and elucidate the extent of these comorbidities and their potential risk factors.

Unicentric Castleman Disease Coexisting With Type 2 Autoimmune Pancreatitis: A Case Report Mimicking Pancreatic Cancer and Near-Whipple Surgery.

This case describes a 46-year-old man presenting with epigastric pain, weight loss, and obstructive jaundice, initially misdiagnosed as pancreatic cancer due to a pancreatic head mass compressing the common bile duct. Intraoperative biopsies during an aborted Whipple procedure revealed coexisting autoimmune pancreatitis and Castleman disease. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of Castleman disease, its potential association with autoimmune pancreatitis, and the critical role of histological analysis in differentiating it from malignancy.

Prevalence of Comorbidities among Patients with Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus in Saudi Population.

Objective: This study sought to quantify the link between low density lipoprotein (LDL) and cholesterol, glycemic control as measured by Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level, and the impact of weight changes on subsequent risk of chronic heart disease in type-2 diabetes mellitus patients.

An LSTM-based Gesture-to-Speech Recognition System.

Fast and flexible communication options are limited for speech-impaired people. Hand gestures coupled with fast, generated speech can enable a more natural social dynamic for those individuals - particularly individuals without the fine motor skills to type on a keyboard or tablet reliably. We created a mobile phone application prototype that generates audible responses associated with trained hand movements and collects and organizes the accelerometer data for rapid training to allow tailored models for individuals who may not be able to perform standard movements such as sign language.

Frequency of Urinary Tract Infection Among Patients Undergoing Implant Fixation for Acute Trauma.

Objective: This study aims to determine the frequency of urinary tract infection (UTI), identify the isolated bacteria, and assess antibiotic sensitivity in patients undergoing orthopedic implant fixation for hip fractures.

Methodology: After ethical approval from the institutional review board, this retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted at the Orthopedic Surgery Department of Dow University Hospital Karachi from June 2022 to June 2023. Through non-probability consecutive sampling, 186 patients above 16 years of age, of either gender, presenting with hip fractures such as intracapsular or extracapsular fractures, who underwent surgical fixation, were included in the study.

Prevalence of insomnia and related psychological factors with coping strategies among medical students in clinical years during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We explored the prevalence of insomnia, confirm the associated psychological factors and current coping strategies among undergraduate medical during their clinical years. This cross-sectional, quantitative, descriptive study was conducted at the department of medical education, college of medicine, King Saud University (KSU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
