Meningiomas express the somatostatin receptor (SSTR). The utilization of SSTR ligands, specifically Gallium-68 (Ga) isotope, a radioactive isotope (Ga)-DOTA-labeled peptides, has demonstrated exceptional diagnostic precision for the detection of meningiomas, primarily due to the absence of normal brain and bone activity. We report a case of a 48-year-old woman with sphenoid wing meningioma who underwent Ga-DOTA TOC positron emission tomography (PET) for tumor delineation.

Article Synopsis
  • Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) are prevalent cancers that can spread to other parts of the body, but heart metastasis from HNSCC is rare and poses serious treatment challenges.
  • Cardiac metastasis is linked to a poor prognosis, and there is no standardized approach for diagnosing and treating these cases due to their infrequency.
  • The article discusses a specific case of cardiac metastasis from buccal squamous cell carcinoma, which was unexpectedly discovered using an advanced imaging technique called FDG PET/CT.

Background And Objectives: Spinal CSF leaks lead to spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). While International Classification of Headache Disorders, Third Edition (ICHD-3) criteria necessitate imaging confirmation or low opening pressure (OP) for SIH diagnosis, their sensitivity may be limited. We offered epidural blood patches (EBPs) to patients with symptoms suggestive of SIH, with and without a documented low OP or confirmed leak on imaging.

Non-invasive prenatal screening provides a risk assessment for aneuploidies by utilizing cell-free DNA (cfDNA). It is recommended that cell-free DNA screening (cfDNA screening) be offered to all pregnant people regardless of a priori risk for aneuploidy. In the absence of an increased risk, alternative motives for electing cfDNA screening and different levels of informed decision making may arise.

Despite attractive cost-effectiveness, scalability, and superior stability, carbon-based printable perovskite solar cells (CPSCs) still face moisture-induced degradation that limits their lifespan and commercial potential. Here, the moisture-preventing mechanisms of thin nanostructured super-repellent coating (advancing contact angle >167° and contact angle hysteresis 7°) integrated into CPSCs are investigated for different moisture forms (falling water droplets vs water vapor vs condensed water droplets). It is shown that unencapsulated super-repellent CPSCs have superior performance under continuous droplet impact for 12 h (rain falling experiments) compared to unencapsulated pristine (uncoated) CPSCs that degrade within seconds.
