Objective: This study presents a comprehensive analysis of electrochemical skin conductance (ESC) values collected from over 1.9 million measurements using Withings Body Scan and Body Comp scales. It aimed at establishing descriptive values for ESC while correcting for the influence of age, sex, and circadian and seasonal variations on sudomotor function.

Insomnia disorder is a major health concern, particularly among patients with mood disorders. This study validates the translated version of the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) in a French population with psychiatric disorders, particularly mood disorders. The ISI was completed by 260 patients with sleep complaints comorbid with psychiatric disorders, including 209 patients with mood disorders.

This dose-escalation study aimed to evaluate the tolerance (hypomanic symptoms) and efficacy of bright light therapy (BLT) in depressed patients with bipolar disorder (BD) with mood stabilizers, using different schedules (duration and escalation), applied in morning or midday. Patients with BD I or II () followed a 1-week placebo phase and were randomized to morning or midday BLT with dose escalation from 7.5 to 45 minutes/d, until September 2023.

Introduction: Increased total sleep duration complaint is frequently associated with psychiatric disorders. The daytime impact of sleep disorders is directly linked to the management of emotions and behaviors. Complaints of increased total sleep duration in major depressive disorder (MDE) could be a factor in the disruption of emotional regulation, which belongs to specific, atypical and often more severe clinical pictures.

Introduction: Current guidelines recommend cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) as the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia. Pharmacological recommendations by European guidelines for the treatment of insomnia disorder include positive GABAergic modulators such as short and medium acting benzodiazepines and "Z-drugs" (eszopiclone, zaleplon, zolpidem, zopiclone), dual orexin receptor antagonists (DORAs; daridorexant), melatonin receptor agonists (melatonin 2 mg prolonged release - PR). Given the chronic nature of insomnia, the presence of non-responders to some treatments it is often necessary switching between various therapeutic approaches and medications.

Previous studies have highlighted the prevalence of disordered sleep in smokers, with subjective sleep complaints and alterations of sleep architecture, including a reduction in slow-wave sleep (SWS). These findings raise questions regarding the impact of smoking cessation and withdrawal on sleep. This review aims to assess the impact of smoking cessation on sleep by taking into account objective and subjective methods of assessment.

Article Synopsis
  • * The review included 20 studies with a total of 2,232 participants, showing common patterns of hypoperfusion in certain brain regions during rest and hyperperfusion during cognitive tasks in those with ADHD.
  • * Key findings indicate that while certain areas like the prefrontal cortex often experience reduced blood flow at rest, other regions may show increased blood flow during tasks, suggesting the need for further research to understand these variations better.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores sex differences in sleep disturbances during major depressive episodes (MDE), finding that a high prevalence of sleep complaints exists for both genders, but with variations in types and associations.
  • Women showed higher rates of sleep issues and specific comorbidities like histrionic personality disorder, while men were more associated with mania and substance use disorders.
  • The research highlights the importance of tailored treatment approaches for men and women based on their unique profiles, despite the limitations of the cross-sectional design which doesn't establish causality.

Introduction: Psychomotor activity stands out as a crucial symptom in characterizing behaviors associated with depression. This study aims to explore the potential of actigraphy as a tool for digital phenotyping in characterizing symptoms of psychomotor agitation and retardation, which are clinically challenging dimensions to capture, in patients diagnosed with major depressive episode (MDE) according to DSM-5 criteria.

Methods: We compared rest-activity circadian rhythm biomarkers measured by the Motion Watch 8 actigraphy between 58 (78.

Introduction: Cannabis currently stands as the most prevalent illicit substance used by adolescents in France. Its use is associated with an elevated risk of developing psychiatric disorder, affecting neuro-cognitive development, or leading to psycho-social challenges in the long run. Cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT) have emerged as a preferred approach for treating cannabis use disorders (CUD) in adults.

Background: One of the challenges in bipolar disorder (BD) lies in early detection of the illness and its recurrences, to improve prognosis. Sleep disturbances (SD) have been proposed as reliable predictive markers of conversion. While preliminary studies have explored the relationship between SD and the onset of mood episodes, the results remain heterogeneous and a few have specifically examined patients' perception of prodromal symptoms and their progression until the episode occurs.

In this study, we investigated the potential of electrochemical skin conductance (ESC) measurements gathered from home-based devices to detect circadian-like patterns. We analyzed data from 43,284 individuals using the Withings Body Comp or Body Scan scales, which provide ESC measurements. Our results highlighted a circadian pattern of ESC values across different age groups and countries.

Background: The interaction between smoking and sleep seems appears to be bidirectional, but few studies evaluated the impact of smoking and its cessation on objective sleep parameters. In this context, this new study aimed to assess the impact of smoking and its cessation on sleep architecture and on ventilatory sleep parameters, particularly the presence of sleep apnea syndrome (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI)≥15). Methods: Patients hospitalized for polysomnographic sleep exploration were compared according to their smoking status: active smokers (AS), former smokers (FS), non-smokers (NoNi).

The global covid-19 pandemic has imposed radical changes in daily lives. This study reflects upon sociodemographic and clinical characteristics (sleep-wake rhythm, psychiatric symptoms, and alcohol use behavior) during the full lockdown, comparing individuals who increased their alcohol use (iAU), those who maintained a stable use (sAU), and those who did not consume alcohol (AnoU). Participants were recruited via e-mails and they were required to complete an online survey that included questionnaires, during the last week of the full lockdown.
