Effect of a Triad of Norepinephrine, Tranexamic Acid, and Endo-Cutter Staplers on the Reduction of Blood Loss and Operative Duration in Patients Undergoing Open Radical Cystectomy.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of norepinephrine, tranexamic acid, and endo-cutter staplers on the reduction of blood loss and operative duration in patients undergoing open radical cystectomy (ORC).

Methods: We conducted a prospective case-control study involving 50 patients who underwent ORC. The first group consisted of 25 patients (cases) who received norepinephrine and tranexamic acid-soaked mops, along with endo-cutter staplers for ligating the vascular pedicles during the surgery.

Lu-PSMA-617 Consolidation Therapy After Docetaxel in Patients with Synchronous High-Volume Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer: A Randomized, Phase 2 Trial.

Lu-prostate-specific membrane antigen-617 (Lu-PSMA-617) has shown positive survival outcomes in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. However, there are limited data in the hormone-sensitive setting. Here, in the CONSOLIDATE trial (Lu-PSMA-617 Consolidation Therapy After Docetaxel in Patients with Synchronous High-Volume Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer), we intended to evaluate the role of Lu-PSMA-617 as consolidation therapy for residual disease after chemohormonal treatment in patients with synchronous high-volume metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC).

Utility of PSMA-PET derived volumetric parameters in initial risk stratification and prediction of prostate cancer metastasis - a head-to-head comparison of the radiotracers 18 F-PSMA-1007 and 68 Ga-PSMA-11.

Objective: This study aimed to explore and compare the utility of baseline 18 F-PSMA-1007 and 68 Ga-PSMA-11 PET/computed tomography (CT) derived volumetric parameters in initial risk stratification and prediction of prostate cancer (PCa) metastasis.

Methods: Forty treatment-naïve, biopsy-proven intermediate-/high-risk PCa patients were prospectively recruited. Each patient underwent PET/CT with 68 Ga-PSMA-11 and 18 F-PSMA-1007 (within 2 weeks).

Prognostic significance of Klotho expression in patients with renal cell carcinoma.

Introduction: Various molecular markers have been investigated in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) without significant reliability. We analyzed Klotho (tumor suppressive protein) expression in RCC to investigate its association with tumor-stage, grade, disease-free-survival (DFS) and overall-survival (OS).

Methods: Data of histologically confirmed patients of RCC with complete clinical follow-up were retrieved from Medical-Record-Library.

[Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 Versus Docetaxel in Chemotherapy-Naïve Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer: Final Survival Analysis of a Phase 2 Randomized, Controlled Trial.

The prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) inhibitor [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 has been previously demonstrated to be noninferior to docetaxel in achieving a biochemical response in chemotherapy-naïve metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients. Here, we report the final analysis of overall survival (OS) for a phase 2 randomized, controlled trial. Forty chemotherapy-naïve, PSMA-positive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients were randomly assigned to [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 ( = 20) or docetaxel ( = 20).

Evaluation of an automated rapid urine culture method for urinary tract infection: Comparison with gold standard conventional culture method.

Purpose: Urinary tract infection is one of the most prevalent disease affecting people from all age groups. For its diagnosis, conventional culture and antibiotic susceptibility is the gold standard. However, its major limitation is that the results take minimum of 24 ​h and antibiotic susceptibility is available after 48 ​h.

Effect of ureteric access sheath on outcomes of retrograde intrarenal surgery for renal stone disease: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: The need of ureteric access sheath (UAS) in retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) has been controversial for gaining high success in terms of stone free rate (SFR), reducing operative times and complications. There has been lack of high level of evidence in the literature on this topic.

Treatment outcomes of adjuvant radiotherapy in adrenocortical carcinoma - A 13-years experience from a tertiary care centre.

Purpose: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and highly aggressive malignant neoplasm, usually diagnosed in advanced stage. Role and efficacy of adjuvant radiotherapy has not been well defined. The objective of this study is to describe the various clinical characteristics and prognostic factors affecting the survival of ACC along with the role radiotherapy on overall survival and relapse free survival.

Iatrogenic partial glanular amputation: A rare complication of circumcision.

Circumcision is a customary ritual across many cultures. However, the safety of such procedures remains a concern. A boy underwent circumcision in 2014 by a religious worker at the age of 7 years.

Genomic characterization of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients undergoing PSMA radioligand therapy: A single-center experience.

Background: Genomic defects in DNA-damage repair (DDR) mechanisms have been proposed to affect the radiosensitivity of prostate cancers. In this study, we intended to evaluate the prevalence of genetic alterations in a cohort of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients undergoing radioligand therapy (RLT) with prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-inhibitors as well as the impact of such mutations on treatment outcomes.

Methods: Data of consecutive mCRPC patients from 2017 to 2021 who were treated with PSMA-RLT and underwent next-generation sequencing (NGS) were collected and analyzed for response and survival outcomes.

Robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for moderate to highly complex renal masses. A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: Multiple studies have been published recently assessing feasibility of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for moderate to highly complex renal masses. Some studies have even compared partial nephrectomy (PN) performed through various modalities such as open PN (OPN) versus RAPN and laparoscopic PN (LPN) versus OPN. The primary aim of this review was to analyze perioperative outcomes such as warm ischemia time (WIT), duration of surgery, estimated blood loss (EBL), complications, blood transfusion, length of stay, and margin status following RAPN for complex renal masses.

Long-term impact of testicular torsion and its salvage on semen parameters and gonadal function.

Introduction: Testicular torsion is a urological emergency, and long-term outcomes of testicular torsion on infertility, hormonal function, and salvaged testicular size are unclear.

Materials And Methods: We conducted an ambispective, observational study from January 2014 to December 2019. Baseline demographics, time of presentation, clinical features, and management details of all the patients of testicular torsion were recorded from the database.

Current practice patterns in the perioperative management of patients undergoing radical cystectomy: Results from a global survey.

Objective: To determine current practice patterns and adherence to various components of enhanced recovery after surgery in cystectomy (ERAC) protocol for peri-operative management of radical cystectomy patients through a global survey.

Methods: A survey containing 25 questions and addressing 15 of the 22 items of the ERAC protocol was developed and disseminated through Email to the urologists with recent bladder cancer publications. The mailing list was generated by retrieving Email-ids of corresponding authors of articles using the keyword "cystectomy" in Scopus from January 2018 to October 2020.

Background Transrectal US-guided biopsy with or without MRI fusion is performed for diagnosing prostate cancer (PCa) but has limitations. Gallium 68 (Ga) prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT-guided targeted biopsy has the potential to improve diagnostic yield of PCa. 68Ga-PSMA-11 uptake in tracheal mucus plug - a potential pitfall.

Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT is a well-acclaimed imaging modality for prostate cancer (PCa). However, many reports have highlighted PSMA radioligand uptake in a variety of benign tumors and lesions. We report a case of PCa in which  Ga-PSMA-11 uptake was noted in the tracheal lumen.

Evaluation of YouTube Videos as a Source of Patient Information for Ureteric Stent Placement: A Quality Assessment Study.

Objective: To assess the quality of YouTube videos on ureteric stent placement (USP) as a source of patient available.

Methods: YouTube was searched using search terms "DJ stenting," "Double J stenting," and "ureteric stenting." The initial 100 videos displayed with each of the above mentioned search terms were scrutinized.

Utility of WhatsApp in emergency urological practice: An interrater reliability study.

Introduction: The messaging application 'WhatsApp' is used in clinical practice, often for communication between a medical trainee and a consultant. We designed this study to find the interrater reliability of the data transmitted through this application and validating its use in urological practice.

Materials And Methods: Clinical details and computerized tomographic (CT) images of 30 patients visiting the urology emergency were posted in a closed WhatsApp group involving three consultants (SKD, APS, and KC).

Introduction: Hilar tumors are a unique subset of complex renal masses posing a potential surgical challenge during partial nephrectomy. The outcomes of hilar masses have not been compared to non-hilar renal masses of similar RENAL nephrometry score (RNS). In this study, we analyzed the outcomes of hilar versus nonhilar masses after a propensity score matching.

'Pee'BuSt Trial: A single-centre prospective randomized study comparing functional and anatomic outcomes after augmentation urethroplasty with penile skin graft versus buccal mucosa graft for anterior urethral stricture disease.

Purpose: To assess the surgical outcomes of augmentation urethroplasty (AU) using penile skin graft (PSG) compared to buccal mucosa graft (BMG) in anterior urethral stricture disease.

Method: Between January 2018 and January 2019, 100 patients with anterior urethral stricture planned for AU were randomized into PSG or BMG arms (CTRI/2018/07/015028). Anatomic and functional variables were compared pre-operatively and post-operatively.

Primary primitive neuroectodermal tumour of the kidney in adults: Experience of managing 12 cases with systematic review and pooled analysis of literature.

Introduction: Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of the kidney is unusual in adults. These tumours are diagnosed mainly on histopathology and that too sometimes has limitations. With this study, we aimed to review our clinical and histopathological data of patients with renal PNET and reviewing the world literature.
