To examine the impact of the strain rate on the anisotropic mechanical characteristics of single-crystal silicon, nanoindentation and micro-tensile-compression tests were performed. This study analyzed the effects of varying crystal orientations at different strain rates on load-displacement behavior, elastic modulus, hardness, fracture toughness, and true stress-strain responses. The nanoindentation results showed that at room temperature, single-crystal silicon exhibited an elastic recovery rate of approximately 42%.

Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction plays a core role in industrial prognostics and health management (PHM), requiring data-driven models with higher predictive capability for accurate long time series prediction. Developing reliable deep learning-based models based on multi-sensor monitoring data is fundamental for accurately predicting vibration trends during bearing operation and is crucial for bearing fault diagnosis and RUL prediction. In this work, a method for constructing a health index based on vibration signal is developed to describe the performance features of rolling bearings, which mainly includes feature extraction, sensitive feature index selection, dimensionality reduction, and normalization methods.

This study presents the development of a solar-driven thermally regenerative electrochemical cell (STREC) for continuous power generation. Key innovations include dual-function carbon-based electrodes for efficient solar absorption and electrochemical reactions, a transparent and ultrainsulating silica aerogel to maximize solar spectrum transmission while minimizing heat loss, and a compact heat exchanger to recover heat from hot cell streams. Under 1 sun conditions, the STREC achieves a power density of 912.

Developing a reasonable design of a lithiophilic artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) to induce the uniform deposition of Li ions and improve the Coulombic efficiency and energy density of batteries is a key task for the development of high-performance lithium metal anodes. Herein, a high-performance separator for lithium metal anodes was designed by the in situ growth of a metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived transition metal sulfide array as an artificial SEI on polypropylene separators (denoted as CoS-PP). The high ionic conductivity and excellent morphology provided a convenient transport path and fast charge transfer kinetics for lithium ions.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) directly using zinc metal anodes are promising candidates for grid-scale energy storage systems due to their intrinsic high theoretical capacity, high safety, and environmental friendliness. However, the uncontrolled dendrite growth and water-triggered side reactions seriously plague its practical application. Herein, a cost-effective and green additive, maltodextrin (MD) is presented, to simultaneously guide the smooth Zn deposition and inhibit the occurrence of water-related side reactions.

Dendrite formation and water-triggered side reactions on the surface of Zn metal anodes severely restrict the commercial viability of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs). In this work, we introduce erythritol (Et) as an electrolyte additive to enhance the reversibility of zinc anodes, given its cost-effectiveness, mature technology, and extensive utilization in various domains such as food, medicine, and other industries. By combining multiscale theoretical simulation and experimental characterization, it was demonstrated that Et molecules can partially replace the coordination HO molecules to reshape the Zn solvation sheath and destroy the hydrogen bond network of the aqueous electrolyte.
