Actin-bundling protein Fascin1 (FSCN1) is encoded by the gene and is crucial for cytoskeletal remodeling and cellular migration. Although a previous study linked deficiency to neonatal lethality in mice, the underlying metabolic mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we report that systemic knockout (KO) of leads to 52.

Utilizing the GluN1 antigen, which targets the amino terminal domain of the NMDAR GluN1 subunit, we initially established an anti-NMDAR encephalitis mouse model. Subsequently, pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) was intraperitoneally injected and their seizure susceptibility was observed.

Biominerals formed by marine organisms exhibit intricate structures and support a remarkable range of functionalities. Recent advances in our understanding of biomineralization highlight the pivotal role of magnesium-stabilized amorphous calcium carbonate (Mg-ACC) as a transient precursor in the formation of calcareous biominerals. This feature article reviews recent studies of Mg-ACC, illustrating the concepts of particle attachment, secondary nucleation, domain segregation, and mesocrystal formation.

Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) is an important cause of intractable epilepsy, with FCD type II (FCD II) being the most common subtype. FCD II is characterized by cortical dyslamination accompanied by dysmorphic neurons (DNs). Identifying the molecular alterations and targetable biomarkers is pivotal for developing therapies.

Objective: To identify a novel protumoural CAF subtype undertaking VM.
Design: We used single-cell RNA sequencing and mIHC to identify FAPαCD144 endothelial-like CAFs (endoCAFs) and combined prospective and retrospective analyses to assess its clinical outcomes.
is a medicinal plant and an important source for the commercial production of tropane alkaloids (TAs), such as scopolamine and hyoscyamine, which are used clinically for their anticholinergic properties. In this study, we identified 16 metallocarboxypeptidase inhibitor (MCPI) genes from (), which are grouped into three subgroups based on phylogenetic relationships and are distributed across 10 chromosomes. Promoter analysis showed that most elements were related to defense and stress responses, such as drought, low-temperature, ABA (abscisic acid), GA (gibberellin), auxin, light and MeJA responsiveness.

The effects of cystine limitation stress (CLS) on PDAC progression are poorly understood. Here we report that adaptation to CLS (CLSA) promotes PDAC cell proliferation and tumor growth through translational upregulation of the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (OxPPP).

The application of nanotechnology in agriculture has received much attention in order to improve crop yield, quality and food safety. In the present study, a Cd-tolerant endophytic fungus KL19 was first ever reported to produce SeNPs, and the production conditions were optimized using the Box-Behnken design in the Response Surface Methodology (RSM-BBD), achieving a peak yield of 1.06 mM under optimal conditions of 2.

We show that alternative splice variants of the fission protein Drp1 (DNM1L) contribute to the complexity of mitochondrial fission/fusion regulation in tumor cells. High tumor expression of the Drp1 alternative splice variant lacking exon 16 relative to other transcripts is associated with poor outcome in ovarian cancer patients.

The rupture of an HSH is a critical situation that necessitates immediate and timely intervention to prevent loss of life. We present here, a case of a spontaneously ruptured massive HSH caused by preeclampsia.

Given the lack of actionable targets such as ER and HER2, TNBC still remains an unmet therapeutic challenge. Despite harboring high CDK4/6 expression levels, the efficacy of CDK4/6 inhibition in TNBC has been limited due to the emergence of resistance.

However, the mechanisms sustaining stemness and chemotherapy resistance in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that Bicaudal C homolog 1 (BICC1), an RNA binding protein regulating numerous cytoplasmic mRNAs, facilitates chemoresistance and stemness in PDAC.

Secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC), a conserved secreted glycoprotein, plays crucial roles in regulating various biological processes. SPARC is highly expressed and has profound implications in several cancer types, including melanoma. Understanding the mechanisms that govern SPARC expression in cancers has the potential to lead to improved cancer diagnosis, prognosis, treatment strategies, and patient outcomes.

Mitochondrial homeostasis plays a pivotal role in oocyte maturation and embryonic development. Deoxyguanosine kinase (DGUOK) is a nucleoside kinase that salvages purine nucleosides in mitochondria and is critical for mitochondrial DNA replication and homeostasis in non-proliferating cells. loss-of-function mutations and deletions lead to hepatocerebral mitochondrial DNA deletion syndrome.

In this study, we illustrate that tumor-derived interleukin 35 (IL-35) mediates the accelerated resistance of PDAC to gemcitabine (GEM). We observe that GEM resistance can spread from GEM-resistant PDAC cells to GEM-sensitive cells, and that IL-35 is responsible for the propagation of chemoresistance, which is supported by sequencing and experimental data.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAberrant mitochondrial fission/fusion dynamics have been reported in cancer cells. While post translational modifications are known regulators of the mitochondrial fission/fusion machinery, we show that alternative splice variants of the fission protein Drp1 () have specific and unique roles in cancer, adding to the complexity of mitochondrial fission/fusion regulation in tumor cells. Ovarian cancer specimens express an alternative splice transcript variant of Drp1 lacking exon 16 of the variable domain, and high expression of this splice variant relative to other transcripts is associated with poor patient outcome.
