Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between truncal muscle mass, particularly the skeletal truncal muscle mass index (sTMI), and overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms in adult men, using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed health screening data from 5,475 men aged ≥40 years collected between 2014 and 2022. OAB was defined as an OAB Symptom Score (OABSS) ≥3 and urgency score ≥2, with moderate-to-severe OAB defined as OABSS ≥6 and urgency score ≥2.

Purpose: We aimed to assess the effects of ADT on the incidence of secondary malignancies in patients with prostate cancer.
Methods: Prostate cancer patients who initially treated with ADT from 2009 were included and followed up until 2019. We additionally included female patients, male patients without prostate cancer, and male patients with prostate cancer who did not undergo ADT to build comparison.
Background: It is important to explain early diagnosis and treatment plans to patients of prostate cancer due to the different stages that diagnosis is made at and the corresponding stage-specific treatment options, as well as the varying prognoses depending on the choices made. Although various studies have implemented metaverse-based interventions across diverse clinical settings for medical education, there is a lack of publications addressing the implementation and validation of patient education using this technology.
Objective: This study explored the potential of the metaverse as an educational and informational tool for prostate cancer.
Reducing the risk of urethral strictures after transurethral surgery for patients with bladder cancer requires effective strategies. We compared the clinical outcomes of a novel drug-injectable urethral catheter set (NIUS) with hyaluronic acid (HA) with those of the conventional intraurethral HA injection method. This six-center, prospective, randomized, single-blind trial included 192 male patients aged ≥ 20 years scheduled to undergo transurethral surgery.

The performance of the system was compared to that of urologists in emergency room (ER) scenarios.
Methods: Axial CT images for patients who underwent stone surgery between August 2022 and July 2023 comprised the data set, which was divided into 70% for training, 10% for internal validation, and 20% for testing.

Specific ion effects in the interactions of monovalent anions with amine groups─one of the hydrophilic moieties found in proteins─were investigated using octadecylamine monolayers floating at air-aqueous solution interfaces. We find that at solution pH 5.7, larger monovalent anions induce a nonzero pressure starting at higher areas/molecules, i.

Methods: We surveyed 50 South Korean urology specialists with over 3 years of clinical experience in secondary or tertiary hospitals in July-August 2021. The survey covered urologists' demographics, awareness of α1-blocker prescription differences, and key factors in α1-blocker selection based on LUTS severity and patient age.

This review systematically addresses the correlation between the microbiome and prostate cancer and explores its diagnostic and therapeutic implications. Recent research has indicated an association between the urinary and gut microbiome composition and prostate cancer incidence and progression. Specifically, the urinary microbiome is a potential non-invasive biomarker for early detection and risk evaluation, with altered microbial profiles in prostate cancer patients.

In total, 209 patients with moderate- and high-risk NMIBC who received BCG induction-only treatment between 2008 and 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were assessed based on the initial NMIBC stage.

Additionally, the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on the physical function and hQoL in these patients were compared with those of moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT).
Methods: Seventeen prostate cancer patients who underwent ADT were prospectively allocated to either HIIT (n = 9) or MICT (n = 8).

Purpose: We assessed the effects of preoperative bladder compliance on the long-term functional outcomes, especially focused on postoperative storage symptom changes, after laser prostatectomy.
Materials And Methods: From January 2008 to March 2014, 1,608 men who underwent laser prostatectomy, including holmium laser enucleation or photo-vaporization of the prostate, were included in the analysis. We divided patients into 3 groups according to bladder compliance on a baseline urodynamic study: <12.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the practicality of percent body fat (PBF), calculated using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), in predicting benign prostatic hyperplasia/lower urinary tract symptoms (BPH/LUTS).
Methods: This study included 844 men who underwent medical checkups at our institution between 2014 and 2022. Demographic characteristics, serum PSA levels, and prostate volume were collected using TRUS.
Purpose: We investigated the effects of economic status (classified based on insurance type and residential area) on oncological outcomes of prostate cancer using a nationwide database. We additionally investigated oncological outcomes based on economic status and residential area in patients who underwent surgical treatment.
Materials And Methods: The study included 75,518 men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer between 2009 and 2018 in whom oncological outcomes were investigated based on economic status and residential area.
Objective: Despite efforts to improve screening and early detection of prostate cancer (PC), no available biomarker has shown acceptable performance in patients with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) gray zones. We aimed to develop a deep learning-based prediction model with minimized parameters and missing value handling algorithms for PC and clinically significant PC (CSPC).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 18 824 prostate biopsies collected between March 2003 and December 2020 from 2 databases, resulting in 12 739 cases in the PSA gray zone of 2.
We aimed to determine whether vitamin D levels before prostate biopsy have diagnostic value for clinically significant prostate cancer. The study cohort included patients who underwent prostate biopsy. A total of 224 patients were enrolled in our study and serum vitamin D levels were measured from February 2016 to December 2019 in routine laboratory tests.

We prospectively performed a urodynamic study of 100 male with medical refractory lower-urinary-tract-symptoms during 2017-2019. The DMT, BWT and DMT/BWT ratio were measured by ultrasonography every 50 mL during bladder filling, and were analyzed for non-invasive diagnosis of DU and prediction of prostate surgery outcome with questionnaire and the maximum-flow-rate.

The use of surfactants to attract dissolved ions to water surfaces and interfaces is an essential step in both solvent-based and solvent-free separation processes. We have studied the interactions of lanthanide ions in the aqueous subphase with monolayers of dihexadecyl phosphate at air-water interfaces. With heavier lanthanides (atomic number ≥ 65) in the subphase, the floating layer can be compressed to an area/molecule of about half the molecular cross section, indicating bilayer formation.

A degree of IPP over 5 mm in a preoperative CT scan was classified as severe.

Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is recommended as the first-line treatment option for intermediate to high risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) by current clinical guidelines. However, despite the intravesical instillation of BCG, a significant proportion of patients with intermediate to high risk NMIBC develop intravesical recurrence. Moreover, the treatment of BCG-unresponsive NMIBC is currently challenging.
