Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs), small and highly conserved non-coding RNA molecules, have emerged as promising molecular biomarkers due to their regulatory roles in gene expression and stability in blood.
Methods: We used measurements of 64 plasma miRNAs from 145 participants in the Alzheimer's disease Neuroimaging Initiative cohort, including 74 probable AD patients and 71 cognitively normal (CN) older adults. We performed principal component analysis (PCA) with factor rotation for dimension reduction to identify AD-associated principal components (PCs) and their key miRNAs with factor loadings higher than 0.

Background: Preserving kidney function is a pivotal aspect of the follow-up in patients with multicystic dysplastic kidney (MCDK). Kidney parenchymal abnormalities found in the contralateral kidney are commonly recognized as a poor prognosis for kidney injury. However, the clinical significance of these parenchymal features remains inadequately assessed.

AD can compromise brain function and lead to severe neurological abnormalities associated with dementia. The human Apolipoprotein E (ApoE4) gene is a strong risk factor for AD.

Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors (PDE5i) are known for their ability to enhance blood flow and vascular stability and are widely used to treat conditions such as erectile dysfunction, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, and cancer. However, studies investigating the role of PDE5i in alleviating obesity and metabolic diseases remains unclear.

However, evidence from prospective trials regarding the effects of CYP2C19 genotypes on the role of clopidogrel preventing cardiovascular events among patients with acute ischemic stroke remains limited.
Objective: To investigate the association of the CYP2C19 genotypes with the clinical prognosis of patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with clopidogrel.
Objectives: To evaluate the sustained effects of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tap test (TT) on gait parameters over one month in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH).
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 150 patients with iNPH from two university hospitals who underwent CSF TT and quantitative gait analysis. Gait parameters, including walking speed (WS) and stride length (SL), were measured before, within 24 h after, and one month after the CSF TT.

Introduction: The molecular mechanisms underlying early-onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD) and late-onset Alzheimer's disease (LOAD) remain incompletely understood, particularly in Asian populations.
Methods: RNA-sequencing was carried out on blood samples from 248 participants in the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital cohort to perform differential gene expression (DGE) and weighted gene co-expression network analysis. Findings were replicated in an independent Korean cohort (N = 275).
Introduction: The Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous (TRAM) flap is used for breast reconstruction, but involves the risk of necrosis. Adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal Stem Cells (ADSCs) can be used to stimulate neovascularization and reduce the risk of TRAM flap necrosis.
Aim: Determine the effect of ADSCs on TRAM flap viability in rats.

Bothrops asper venom (Bav) contains metalloproteinases that disrupt the microvascular system, impairing muscle tissue regeneration after injury. This study investigated the impact of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) pathway on vascular injury and revascularization in muscle injuries induced by Bav. Mice were injected with Bav into the gastrocnemius muscle and treated with lumiracoxib, a selective COX-2 inhibitor, 30 min, 2 days, and 6 days post-Bav injection.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder influenced by various factors, including liver function, which may impact the clearance of amyloid-β (Aβ) in the brain. This study aimed to explore how the apolipoprotein E () ε4 allele affects the relationship of liver function markers with AD pathology and cognition.
Methods: We analyzed data from two independent cohorts, including 732 participants from the Hallym University Medical Center and 483 from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, each group consisting of individuals with and without the ε4 allele.
Introduction: Although white matter hyperintensity (WMH) shares similar vascular risk and pathology with small vessel occlusion (SVO) stroke, there were few studies to evaluate the impact of the burden of WMH volume on early and delayed stroke outcomes in SVO stroke.
Materials And Methods: Using a multicenter registry database, we enrolled SVO stroke patients between August 2013 and November 2022. The WMH volume was estimated by automated methods using deep learning (VUNO Med-DeepBrain, Seoul, South Korea), which was a commercially available segmentation model.

mRNA therapy is the intracellular delivery of messenger RNA (mRNA) to produce desired therapeutic proteins. Developing strategies for local mRNA delivery is still required where direct intra-articular injections are inappropriate for targeting a specific tissue. The mRNA delivery efficiency depends on protecting nucleic acids against nuclease-mediated degradation and safe site-specific intracellular delivery.

A total of 270 of the ∼320 COL7A1 epidermolysis bullosa PNVs reside in exons that can be skipped, and antisense oligonucleotides and gene editing nucleases have been used to create in-frame deletions. Antisense oligonucleotides are transient, and nucleases generate deleterious double-stranded DNA breaks and uncontrolled mixtures of allele products.

Metformin (MET), an oral antidiabetic drug, has shown potential neuroprotective effects, but its impact on stroke prognosis in DM patients undergoing EVT remains unclear. In a multicenter study, 231 patients with DM undergoing EVT for acute ischemic stroke were enrolled.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid-β (Aβ) plaque accumulation and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain. Emerging evidence has suggested potential interactions between the brain and periphery, particularly the liver, in regulating Aβ homeostasis.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association of serum liver enzymes with brain amyloidopathy and cognitive performance in patients with complaints of cognitive decline.

Background: Alzheimer's dementia (AD) pathogenesis involves complex mechanisms, including microRNA (miRNA) dysregulation. Integrative network and machine learning analysis of miRNA can provide insights into AD pathology and prognostic/diagnostic biomarkers.
Methods: We performed co-expression network analysis to identify network modules associated with AD, its neuropathology markers, and cognition using brain tissue miRNA profiles from the Religious Orders Study and Rush Memory and Aging Project (ROS/MAP) (N = 702) as a discovery dataset.
Background: Cerebral small vessel disease is characterized by white matter hyperintensities (WMH) and acute small vessel occlusion (SVO) stroke. We investigated the effect of prior antiplatelet use (APU) on stroke outcome in 1151 patients with acute SVO stroke patients and moderate to severe WMH.
Methods: Using a multicenter database, this retrospective study used quantitative WMH volume measurements and propensity score matching (PSM) for comparisons between patients with prior APU and without APU.

Foot drop can have a variety of causes, including the common peroneal nerve (CPN) injuries, and is often difficult to diagnose. We aimed to develop a deep learning-based algorithm that can classify foot drop with CPN injury in patients with knee MRI axial images only. In this retrospective study, we included 945 MR image data from foot drop patients confirmed with CPN injury in electrophysiologic tests ( = 42), and 1341 MR image data with non-traumatic knee pain ( = 107).
