Extreme rainfall during the Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) accounts for approximately 27 % of the total seasonal rainfall. Most of this moisture is transported from the Indian Ocean. Amid ongoing warming of the Indian Ocean, 2023 stood out as one of the warmest monsoon years on record.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLiquefaction is a phenomenon that occurs when there is a loss of strength in wet and cohesionless soil due to higher pore water pressures, and as a result, the effective stress is reduced due to dynamic loading. A construction site should first investigate the site for liquefaction, and for analyzing liquefaction, the most accurate method should be selected, which provides the most accurate results. In this work, a detailed investigation is performed on the effectiveness of ensemble learning and deep learning (DL) models in assessing the liquefaction susceptibility of soil deposits from a large database consisting of cone penetration test (CPT) measurements and field liquefaction performance observations of historical earthquakes.

A 52-year-old female presented with a history of left partial nephrectomy performed 1 year ago for a left renal mass. She was asymptomatic and was under post-operative follow-up. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen was obtained which revealed a large renal artery pseudoaneurysm (of size 79 mm ×67 mm ×78 mm).

Cancer is a leading cause of mortality worldwide. The evolving role of epigenetics and tumor microenvironments of cancer pose significant challenges to the management of cancer. Besides genetics, epigenetic changes play a crucial role in the alteration of cellular machinery, progression, metastasis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and chemoresistance.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCancer remains a major global health challenge with a high mortality rate, as evidenced by the rise in new cases every year. Conventional diagnostic methods like PET scans, MRIs, and biopsies, despite being widely used, suffer from significant drawbacks such as high radiation exposure, difficulty in distinguishing malignant from benign tumors, and invasiveness. Early detection, which is crucial for improving treatment outcomes and survival rates, is hindered by the asymptomatic nature of early-stage cancer and the limitations of current diagnostic tools.

The detection and removal of dyes from wastewater remains a significant challenge. In this study, we report the synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) and its doped derivatives through a facile chemical method, followed by comprehensive characterisation and analysis to assess their potential in various applications.

We examine how the local structural features, like shear, and the global structural properties, like the number of soft modes, change during unfolding. Simulations are performed using a Gaussian Network Model (GNM) with bond breaking for both thermal and force-induced unfolding scenarios.

Conventional diagnostic methods, such as neuroimaging and cerebrospinal fluid analysis, typically detect AD at advanced stages, limiting the efficacy of therapeutic interventions. Early detection is crucial for improving patient condition by enabling timely administration of treatments that may decelerate disease progression.

Nevertheless, its broader usage faces obstacles by its insufficient mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. In order to address these constraints, recent studies have concentrated on combining SF with cutting-edge nanomaterials like MXene and carbon-based materials.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDye industry plays an essential role in industrial development, contributing significantly to economic growth and progress. However, its rapid expansion has led to significant environmental concerns, especially water pollution and ecosystem degradation due to the discharge of untreated or inadequately treated dye effluents. The effluents introduce various harmful chemicals altering water quality, depleting oxygen levels, harming aquatic organisms, and disrupting food chains.

Pure and chromium (Cr) doped L-asparagine monohydrate (LAM) single crystals were grown by using evaporation controlled solution growth technique. XRD analysis confirmed the orthorhombic crystal system with space group P222 of grown crystals. Cr-incorporation decreased the cell parameters and unit cell volume of the crystals.

We analyzed Klotho (tumor suppressive protein) expression in RCC to investigate its association with tumor-stage, grade, disease-free-survival (DFS) and overall-survival (OS).
Methods: Data of histologically confirmed patients of RCC with complete clinical follow-up were retrieved from Medical-Record-Library.
Aims A prospective observational study was performed to assess the feasibility and safety of three-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Parameters comprising age, sex, number of cases in which intra-operative difficulty were encountered, and outcomes such as number of cases that required conversion to four-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy, postoperative pain on the visual analog scale (VAS), and postoperative hospital stay were assessed. We also documented difficult cases that were operated successfully with three ports, and the number of cases that needed conversion to four ports along with the reason for the conversion.

The method achieves direct proportionality between electrical spectrum analyzer traces and the FN spectrum, which provide the intrinsic linewidth of the lasers. This proposed method is validated by comparing the FN spectrum with that obtained from a commercial frequency noise analyzer.

If they are present in excess, it could be hazardous for the human health. With the growing technology, a series of various detection techniques are employed in order to recognize those metal ions, some of them include voltammetry, electrochemical methods, inductively couples, etc.

Vitamin B1 is an essential cofactor for enzymes involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, particularly Transketolases. These enzymes are amenable to therapeutic interventions because of their specificity. In the final step of the Vitamin B1 biosynthesis pathway, Thiamine Pyrophosphokinase (TPK) converts thiamin into its active form, Thiamin Pyrophosphate (TPP), allowing researchers to investigate the functional importance of this enzyme and the pathway's dispensability in , a protozoan parasite that causes visceral leishmaniasis.
